    Rolf Harris

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The title of the thread should be covers that are DIFFERENT to the original.

The better thing is purely subjective. IMO many of those posted (including mine) aren't 'better' - they are just alternate.

    Better is indeed subjective...

Exactly where Big Daves comment where it is all subjective comes from I guess.

I think the fun of a cover is it changes the genre of the original and thus appeals it to a different audience

    This disappoints me.

I love Foo Fighters, and System of a Down, but this song is a pathetic cover of the Dead Kennedy's "Holiday in Cambodia".

Changing the lyrics to a more MTV friendly version is sad. Wussy crowd who this seems completely wasted on as well.

I prefer the Pogues and the Dubliners version...its a 'trad' so they're all covers...and while I'm on the subject of covers of "standards". I'll take Budgie just ahead of Van Morrison (ok, Them) when it comes to "Baby Please Don't Go.
