    Side Stand "puck"

I met a guy using one of these the other day, but didn't think to ask where he got it. Basically a disc that you put under your side stand when you are on grass etc so it doesn't sink through.

I've seen then online in the UK for £2, but am told from the local shop that Oxford make them with a magnet to centre the side stand, but are $16. Seems a bit steep for what is is?

Has anyone else come across these, think the $16 is worth it etc? Surely I could make something that would do the job for less!!

I always have a crushed can in my jacket pocket incase i have to park on unsound terrain....

of course the bike manufacturers could just resesign the stands - my old Vfr400 has a rubber thing on the stand that not only let me park on grass but also folded the stand up when you set off without causing an accident. my newer Rvf400 has a standard crappy stand and an idiot switch if i try to ride with it out... surely it's cheaper to fit the rubber thingy? (maybe they sell less bikes that way though)

+1 for this. Mine is about 15mm thick, about 100x75. Works well. And if I forget it, I just cut another. Cost me nought.

oh - i need one of these things. the side stand on the MonstA is totally useless. Better go and down a can of beer and do a dance on top to flatten it

A flat can or a metal jar lid works well.

Got a couple that were freebies with bike mags ages ago, just the straight forward plastic plate thingies. Makes more sense to drill a hole in em and put some string through so you can lower it into place whilst seated on the bike though.

A Harley stand has no need for any such fripperies - if I had a stand that WAS inclined to sink into the ground I'd pop-rivet an alloy plate to the base of it.

Bugger carrying cans, blocks of wood or designer alternatives.

Have you considered where the item will rest - ie what the puck's going on?

Same here. I've always just welded a larger plate to the existing foot. Or in the case of the F650 which had a shocking lean I bolted a hockey puck to it which raised it as well as making the footprint larger.
