    Blah Sausages MK II

Well as some of you will already know my least favourite feed in the world is sausages

I have done my damdest over the years to not pass my food prejudices onto my children and have to say I have been very sucessful in the main, they eat about anything including peas

So imagine my horror and secret delight yesterday when I took my youngest shopping with me. I had asked my lovely man what he fancied for tea, he suggested a meat unit, chips and salad. I am not earning at the moment so am being frugal with my funds, steak was off the menu. My lovely man adores sausages so killing two birds with one stone (not too hard a hit on my wallet, and brownie points with him) I bought sausages. My daughter was in the car at the time.

Got to the stupidmarket and we go shopping to replenish the salad supplies and my daughter asks what is for tea. Tube steak was my reply. Bless her she asked me what that meant. I was trying to avoid explaining it in detail when some spoil sport overheard our conversation and filled in the gaps for her. WELL! She was less than impressed I have to say. OOOps, like Mother like daughter it seems

Sausages are and remain revolting. We are actually having them again tonight. Because she would not eat them last night we are having them again tonight, devilled styles

You cant bloody win some days.

EDIT: The daughter in question is 18

Sausages are awesome. (I mean the good ones from the butchers shop, not the crap they sell at the supermarket)

You have poisoned your daughters mind against them. Bad, bad mummy.

Have to say (although around here I should really be careful about how I say it) that I am keen on sausages. Janssens Deli in Browns Bay has some very nice options. Real sausages, not those silly plastic things you get wrapped in a piece of bread at sports dos and outside of the Warewhare and other shops from time to time. And I definitely do not mean those evil things that get fed to kids at parties (cheerios?) before they are smart enough to figure out what they are eating. There should be a law against them.

Did see a pack at the local Chinese supermarket that would test my enthusiasm though - fish sausages. Apparently these are quite normal in China.

Hellers London Pride sossies are good, as well as their common old savs.
I do feel Mom has unduly influenced her daughter away from the culinary delight that the sausage is.

There's no shame in not liking em, as long as when she grows up and doesn't eat them, she feels compelled to hide the sausage in a dangerous manner.

mmm had some bratworst sossies for lunch the other day. Strongggg smell of garlic and other stuff from them, and they literally popped open with juice everywhere when I bit them. Certainly weren't the worst sausages I had ever tasted.

If you intensely dislike sausages, then boerewors are the thing to avoid. Flavourful and pungent, yum.

It would be nice if it was legal to get decent sausages in NZ, but the government has banned the importation of all the good meat into NZ so the rest of you all eat dog food which is labeled as 'prime quality NZ beef' or 'shaved ham', or other such shit. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
