Attaching L- plates?

Hi,

I recently got my learners licene for my motorcycle
and I want to start driving around town, but I have no idea how to put an L-plate on the back of my motorcycle, are there speical ones that you can get for your motorcycle or do you have to make your own?

Mine was a D-I-Y job. Drilled a hole through the L-plate and attached it to the back of the aluminium thing that holds my rego with a flat-headed bolt (there's probably a technical term for them). Since it is newly redundant, I would be more than happy to send it to you

Don't bother with L plates.

Some yellow insulation tape on the rear of your helmet in the shape of an 'L' works best, its in the eye line (visually) of other road users.

They sell the plastics ones at the AA for an exorbitant amount of money for a piece of plastic.

I just drilled a couple of holes in each top corner and used cable ties...

No seriously OP, just go to two dollar shop and buy the nasty "2 dollar" plates they have, cut some of that yellow area away to make it bit smaller (so you dont have to look like utter retard)...and if you loose one you still have a spare.

Careful, cause the plastic does become brittle. It broke on my sons bike and he put it under the seat. One day, he got pulled over right outside our house, and they nearly gave him a $400 fine for not displaying it.

I just got my restricted so no need for the L plate. You are more than welcome to have it if you want. It's a good sturdy plastic. Just PM your address to me.

I got one of those $2 flexibile ones & sellotaped it to the sissy bar, and then to the pack rack when i took the bar off. then when work moved & I had to use M/way just took it off ( thought doing 100km with L plate looked a bit like looking for trouble) untill I did R test when sellotaped it back on till just after test

If only that were true!!! haha no-none had one when I needed it so did the $2 shop job taped it to a bit of card and laminated (ok wrapped it in tape) and then stuck on with cable ties never had any problem with it, never been pulled over either (touch wood) so dont know why I bother (other than being a responsible rider not wanting to make the Bike enthusiast look bad)
