Death of a soldier - RIP Private Tahuna Tahapeehi

I was saddened to read about this young man's death yesterday. He was riding his bike and was hit by another soldier; a young pregnat woman. I guess it hit me hard because my son is also a soldier and a biker, and I know the calibre of these young men and women and the focus they all have - you need to be good to get into the modern army.

    A sad day.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.

I agree, and this illustrates that behind the simple headline is a sad story of a tragic loss that goes so beyond a few words.

I can imagine she does - they will know each other and have friends in common because the services are like a family. I get nervous every time I drive a cage because I know just how dangerous the things are, and it scares me thinking about what could happen if I had a lapse of concentration.

My thoughts are with them all - yes they are all like family. I hope they support each other at this time, despite how hard it may be

Yeah gutted to read about that in the paper and he was only so young too. I know it wasn't my brother as he drives a LAV. Saw the picture and looked like the bike may have hit the car as the car was turning right?

I used to work with his father Tama. Shortly after leaving our work Tama died - it's a year ago in June - a very sad time for his family.
