"The Hump" please explain it to me

I know the thing with race leathers nowadays is to have a "hump" between the shoulders.
Maybee I'm just too oldskool but I just dont see the point of it.
In a crash Instead of a flat surface to sppread the load you've got a big lump to roll over.
For aerodynamics I can kinda gettit for a 125 racer but I'da thought a bigger bike woulda been better with a flat back
    So wazzit all about?

Aerodynamics. Also, good spot for a hydro pack etc for endurance racing.

Its there so that when you have finished racing, and you unzip your leathers down to the waist, you have something compfy to sit on.

A great place to stash your lippie!

I figured they help with neck pressure at high speeds.

It stops your head from bending to far back, ie the helmet stops against the hump, reducing spinal (Neck) injuries....and as a back protector by spreading the load of an impact

    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

I thought it was purely for the irony of the "Quasimoto" logo on my back.

It is to help the air flow move around the helmet more smoothly while going flat out down a straight.
Without it a pocket of low pressure develops behind the helmet and causes the helmet to be pushed around. (You get a sore neck and may have trouble spotting your braking point)
You only really notice the difference when you start going over 220 km/hr.
