Plugging in the Toaster - finally some good news!

For those that know me well and others interested, I have been off work for some time since my crash in 2008.... I hastily returned to work with a head injury after a few months and had to end up fighting ACC for support, which was lost.

So after getting stuff all since then via WINZ I got myself medically cleared and back into job hunting recently.

After feeling rather drained and powerless, I was today offered a temp 3-4 month role today working for one of our government ministries in Wellington with a view to keeping me there for future roles. Not huge money, but is a helpful opportunity to start getting back on my feet.

Also another interview tomorrow for a permanent role elsewhere that would get me back to Auckland eventually... I am hoping I can time these to run together if the temp role doesn't extend or open up other opportunities.

The important bit.... keeping the bike! At least for now! The Toaster is plugged in again!

House up there in the country... been living there since 2005. Currently rented out that place for 6 months while friends build their home nearby.

well done Toaster. Nothing like the feeling of starting to regain the power back in ones life, of taking the steps that allow one to be in control again. Sounds like you have had a pretty torrid time but you are well on the road to being the master of your own destiny. All the best for the interviews and for moving forwards in the direction you want to go.

Great news Toaster - head injuries are bad news and I think people are surprised how long the effects last.

It's great that you are in a position to return to work and I hope it is the beginning of you being able to return to normal* life

*normal is a relative term, is anyone's life normal

Thanks, yeah I completely underestimated the impact the head injury had (no pun intended).

    Congrats Cam.

Maybe you can now spend some cash souping up that underpowered bike of yours. ;-)

Joking aside mate - well done - it is always a nice feeling getting offered a job.

You can't move to Dorkland though - we'll have no huge busa to be the tail-end charlie, on the tuesday rides next year!
