Considering shifting to Tauranga, Napier or New Plymouth?

I'm a Naki girl at heart but unless circumstances changed drastically, I have no plans to move back there. Living the BOP is awesome! Close to beaches, lakes. The snow isn't too far away. Cities just a stones throw... What more can you ask? :P

Northland (just north of whangarei, did the exit 5 yrs ago), have the yacht on a mooring in the bay, live on about 10acres, commute is 20 minutes - a long way up here, the riding is great, eat our own sheep ect, what more could we ask for - gates on top of the brenderwyns with swipcard access only

Napier/Hastings have some of the lowest paid jobs around, according to statistics released recently.
Besides our beaches are crap...stoney, no sand at all. And it blows a lot here, worse than Palmy.

I hear Christchurch is lovely..beaches, skifields, tramping, big population and climate is not too bad....

After our history, I'm surprised you didnt suggest Vladivostok?

1) The roads are shit
2) When was the last time Taranaki ever held a decent concert
3) If you're into tramping it's pointless. The distance to travel to get a decent hill is ridiculous
4) Likewise if you want to find an ocean
5) The weather is shit. I mean, just look at the weekend gone. It was like living in a shower.
6) There is no one in employment. We all just sit on KB all day because we have nothing else to live for
7) I've only been living here for 37 years and get wait to get out of the place

Hmmmmm are this man's intentions honourable? Maybe he dont like me cos I'm from Jaffaland. My Mum was born in Okato and grew up in Tangarakau, Ohura and New Plymouth, so I may be more Naki than he is.

Give over yous two, it aint all bad. I saw a shop open on' Saturday' , some of the up-market areas have electricity now,periodically, and I've heard that back beach is due to re-open before the projected 2015 date due to advances in radio activity clean up techniques.

There is a lot going for New Plym Forkoil, just don't move to Bell block, high flood zone, way too many 'Aspirin' houses and too many gypsy caravan gangs.

Next thing on the agenda is to get rid of that hippy shit Womad festival, oh I see theres progress on that too, off to Nelson where it will be more at home. Well handled mate, for the record I think it's a great place to live and at the risk of angering the weather gods...even the rain is a bit of a myth, of course we have a bit, that's why we're so green but compared to my home country of Pomland it's a virtual arid desert.

Any room for two jafas? Want to get out of the rat race and now thru changing circumstances we can. Since we are at least half an hour from work here in Aucks, we would be happy being that far out of town. Would like to be close to sea (missus likes sailing), and for me some wide open spaces, maybe a bit of bush close by would be just fine and dandy. Have to look for jobs of course, I'm in IT (developer C++ etc) but heartily sick of it and other half does Admin work. Be good to have contact with local riders and get to know the place.

BOP has nice climate, size (Tauranga) for jobs, not too far to visit friends in Aucks, Ureweras close for tramping etc.
New Plymouth has size and dollars with energy sector there, good sailing, great beaches stretching up the coast (as does BOP), bush. But climate not so good (rain) and quite a drive to main centre.
Napier has style, go ahead feel about it, bush (Kawekas), small pop and quite a way from main centre.
Hmmmm, anyone shifted to any of these places recently like to offer an opinion?
