Are power commander specific to bike models

hey guys, looked up on google but didnt find anything conclusive. Are powercommanders specific for a particular bike make and model or can one be used interchangeably between bikes? theres different models of the PCIII that fit different bikes so im guessing it cant be used interchangebly, but what makes them soo specific, is it the map settings?
For those of you whose use the fast lane on motorways and only do a 100km/hr, can you pls use the middle lane, some of us like to ride at 105km/hr thank you very much.

They are model specific, no doubt because of the different connectors but most likely because they have to piggy back the factory ecu which of course are different model to model.
