    Honda HISS system & Hotgrips?

    Hey all,

Just upgraded from my trusty VTR to a CB900 and want to install hotgrips. Just wondering about the H.I.S.S system. If i disconnect battery am i gonna get stuck with a bike that won't start?? Is there anything special i need to do.

    Cheers.

Also if anyone knows where to get a good tail tidy for a CB900 let me know.

If it's any use, 2004 vfr800 with H.I.S.S - replaced the battery a wee while back (just before gladstone hill climb actually), and no problems at all. of course this involved leaving the bike batteryless for a little bit, while i prepped the new battery.
    cheers

I doubt you'll be stuck with a bike you can't start, Honda being who they are would account for flat batteries/work requiring removal of the battery/etc. However, if for some reaon they haven't, check your manual, it will give you any warning you need in there. Our 600 has H.I.S.S. and it makes no mention of any issues in the manual.

ay? Are you typing with one hand or something?

edit: uh, I think you will be fine. If you are worried, just ask the dealer.

At least I've got a good excuse for 'one handed surfing' lol! Yes that was meant to read 'stuck with a bike you can't start'.

Try this link, list of options from Pyramid Plastics for the CB900. I've been very happy with their products before.

[edit] Just had a look, they appear to be out of stock for your model. Just google it.[/edit]

No worries with the battery being taken off, I've done it several times to facilitate my addition of electrical items. The only thing is you will have to reset the clock function to read the correct time.

The CB comes with a clock - it is essential, as while riding one is having so much fun that it is very easy to continue on regardless of prior engagements thus missing them or worse arriving home late when one was going out to experience an evening of find dining.

And no problem removing the battery - I replaced mine a while back and never even considered the HISS do-datty. The HISS thingy is related to the key and ignition.

Lol, wut?! Of-course you can. Otherwise there'd be a lot of hornets that wo'nt start......how do you think you replace a battery past it's working life?! (unless your meaning starting your bike without a battery altogether/although why you'd even want to is beyond me....)

Real bikers are on big rattly cruisers so would'nt be able to read the time anyway.....

Besides all that vibration and they need to stop for piss breaks every 10 mins so they can just look at their calculator watch then......
