    ACC and crash compo experiences

If anyone can identify issues here it will help with a report I have to write ie to focus it on strengths and glitches as forewarned is fore armed.

So far I've gathered that ACC erects many barriers to people learning of entitlements. These are hidden in fact sheets and policies and places that require serious interrogations of bureaucrats to track down.
Also that most entitlements are discretionary. For example, if your face is destroyed you only may get plastic surgery, which would depend on
    1) proving severe psychological distress at being faceless
    2) needing a good face to aid rehab back to work (just wanting to be on facebook or NZs next top model won't cut it).

And if you are a seasonal worker you need to know to apply for a special cover type in advance of having an accident or you'll be out of luck come ACC pay day. Apparently though some shift workers are onto it and have a spike of "accidental" stabbings by co-workers at seasons end, so the good times continue.

But back OT - love to hear of entitlements gained or denied after injury crashes so a reality based consumer info guide can be better constructed. It'll only talk in generalities e.g. some people have found...

Last time I was faceless I found it quite beneficial!

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."

I know woman who lost one of her arms in a bike accident. She has to wait for 3 years to get a lump sum payout just incase her arm grows back. True story.
