Police use them because they're as good as two men in a fight and the fact they've got more clues than most other dogs put together....wonder how they got their name originally?? because they were dogs trained to tend flocks of sheep un-aided by humans they'd protect a flock of sheep from wolves without getting into a blood lust and destroy said flock of sheep which most other breeds of dog would
And Alsations as the uneducated like to call them are the same dog though the name was brought about by a small town on the French border of Alsac where there were a number of German Shepards rescued by people who got them out of france during the war because another bunch of knuckle draggers wanted the breed eliminated
