Yeah who is mastiboy?, can't bloody spell to save himself. And I'll think you'll find it's "Bernard"!!!!!
WW II ended 60 years ago !!
It' a bit sad when a "sporting" organization (an incorporated society) has secrets
Anyway moving right along.
The AGM IS coming up SOON - everybody figured out how they are going to vote on the proposed changes - especially
" 7.1.1.2 - Every club has automatic proxy for the affiliated MNZ members that are registered with MNZ as being part of that club, each affiliated member eg, Executive officers, Stewards, and Licence Holders of each club will have their vote cast at each AGM on their behalf by their club delegate. "
MY reading of this is if ratified it means that at the 2011 AGM the "clubs" with the most members can control what happens - There is no provision to say that they have to consult their members or what happens if members of the club are at the AGM ?
Its a pretty big change to they way MNZ operates.
As is the proposal to erase all mention of the "CEO" from the constitution. I wasn't around when the decision to have a CEO was made but I'm guessing it was debated at length. The removal of the CEO was done with no debate - I don't recall that being mentioned ANYWHERE before the elections last year ? Maybe if it had been on the "public" agenda we might have had more than 315 people vote ?
So who's going this year ?
If your not going who's got your proxy ?
How many people on here are members of MNZ ? ( All the racers have to be )

interesting points, teh Pres was around here last time last year, answering questions, but have not seen him here for a while, i would like to know some other peoples veiws on this,
as for the voting, they current system of postal votes is being ignored somewhat, with disgustingly low voter returns, so i think a change is needed,
however one vote per liceince holder is probebly not my favoured outcome, i would suggest something like one vote per 20 members, giving some of the larger clubs a say, but not a big say, (and i am the president of one of the biggest clubs), i do not think a club with 10 MNZ licience holders should have the same power as a club with 300 liceince holders,
Depends on how proactive the members and the club are.
Why should a large club with apathetic members have more say than a proactive club with less members?
Just cause your a club member, doesn't also mean you partake in club activities etc.
So an executive club member would then speak for me............ No thanks. I'll speak for myself.
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??

Err,Dont most people on here use an alias??and if your referring to people having 2 usernames,Why havent you done something about it before if you knew??There are a number of users doing this and funnily enough,Questioning themselves on some of the threads and using their second username too back themselves up.
I think the idea is the club gets the proxy votes for "ALL" their MNZ members by default. So a club with 100 members who are MNZ license holders gets 100 votes for them plus the club "executive officers" ( say Pres, sec, treas, race vice-pres, social-vice pres) thats 105 votes.
But what happens if club members turn up (as they should !!!) Will there be a count before each vote so that the number of members present for each club can be deducted from the proxies they have ? Will the clubs have to canvas their members and vote according to their wishes ? If I belong to more than one club and turn up at the AGM then I get 3 votes - (but 2 of them may or may not be cast the way I would like ? ) .
I may be a bit old fashioned but my idea of democracy is if you don't vote explicitly by either turning up, or nominating a proxy to vote the way you want (or deliberately casting and "informal" vote) then the "default" is you have NO vote.
A LOT of racers only join a club because they have to to get a race license and don't actually care about the running of the club ( or MNZ either ) - I know some people joined the Vic club because they like the way the winter series is run. That doesn't mean they would agree with everything Vic Club committee decides;
(even though we are all very sensible and competent and have the welfare of motorcyclists as our prime objective)
So all you MNZ members READ the stuff you were sent, talk about it (at the club, the pub or on-line) make a decision, come to the AGM or give your club delegate or someone who IS coming your proxy.

fair points raised above, the basics fall apart becasue of apathy of the majority of guys that jsut want to turn up and race, the proxy system has its faults, someone can sit down at a clubday MX meeting, (or a road race for that matter) and get 60-100 proxy's, (it is pretty easy to do, i know i have done it),
not sure if there is a perfect answer to this,
