I assume you did that for a particular reason and the people who gave you their proxy new what the reason was and agreed ? If so thats OK with me, that's how it works.
I might be pissed off if I found out that you worked for a tyre distributer and were trying to introduce a one tyre rule to use their tyre - I guess even that wouldn't be too bad if you were up front about it - and there was some benifit to racers (like cheaper tyres).
I think the one way this could be abused is if a tyre company (for example) approached you and said "if you can get a one tyre rule introduced with our tyre, you will get a free trip to a MotoGP round of your choice in our corporate box"
(this is NOT a thinly disguised add to any manufacturers/imports/distributors/retailers or anyone with access to a MotoGP corporate box)
P.S. My trip to the IOM TT next month will be entirely funded by Kiwibank Mastercard (even if they don't know it yet) with hospitality supplied by the family of the Lovely Katie O'Donnell![]()

WW II ended 60 years ago !!
The removal of the CEO was done with no debate - I don't recall that being mentioned ANYWHERE before the elections last year ? Maybe if it had been on the "public" agenda we might have had more than 315 people vote ?
And isnt it great that our grand fathers won WW2, so we get to live in a democracy & not under a regime.
wasn't getting rid of the CEO poisition a business decision (read money related) made by the board based on the findings of an outside consultant??? There was a big discussion and ho ha about it at the time i seem to remember. i don't think we ever got a say in the CEO did we???
I would say this is the truth in excess of 80% of club members Wharfy. Personally I believe that proxy votes should only be allowed with the express written permission of the voter involved...ie, you can't presume to vote for someone (such as one of your club members). If the voting turnout was shit, the focus should be on rectifying this issue rather than hiding it. For one point, I looked at all the information sent from MNZ and for the most part it didn't make any sense to me. It seems that those that put together this 'voting pack' forget about who they are sending it to...mostly racers who only want to race. It needs to be put together in a manner that is simply understood (what they are voting for or against) with a box for each issue to be ticked voting one way or the other...keep it VERY simple and easily understood. Just my 2c anyway....as you were
yeah i agree with you biggles, I thought we gave our poxy vote to our club delegate for conference, not post it to some company, maybe i'm just a dumb racer cause i dont really understand... How many will have sent there forms in with there delegates name on them so can be voted in right way, not many i expect.
I don't know how the CEO position came about, it happened when I was between memberships (I was a member of ACU when I was a lad) , but I would like to think that it was disscussed at length with the members (or their delegates) as it would have been a pretty big change to the structure.
There was a bit of noise on KB and some clubs protested but pretty much it was a done deal before anyone found out.
In my experience any consultant worth his salt can quickly figure out what recommendation they are expected to come up with and are often used to absolve the management from any blame.
I would have liked to seen the report tabled at the AGM and discussed by the membership before the change was made.
