Well what a fantastic ride this weekend with the BOP and Auckland branchs meeting in Raglan.
Meeting at the caltex Greeton where six bikes, two 1098's a Monster, the latest 796 hypermotard, an Aprilia Shiver and my ST2.
As the leader for the day we head out over the Kaimia's and running the gauntlett of cop's over this stretch of road making for a slow start to the day, once down the other side and turning on to Raparapa Rd Im quickly overtaken by one of the superbikes and watch as he disappear's around acouple of bends.
With rank and file re-established we pass through Putaruru and on to Arapuni Rd which takes us to Kihikihi and Te Awamutu for our next pick up of an 848,900ss and a Multistada.
Now numbering nine and John on the multi in the lead, as he knows the best back roads to the main Raglan road we can pick up the pace even more.
Once we hit the main Raglan road its time for the gloves to come of and every man for himself,
Quickly Im passed by the two superbikes but not to be out done I give chase even though Im two up they never get to far away, Not bad for Sports/Tourer but the St is not your average sports/tourer it is a Ducati after all.
Ariving in Raglan I see the Auckland guys are already there and have parked on the grass strip that runs down the center of the main St.
Adding to the nine of us is eighteen from Auckland which makes for a great sight in the main st also helped by other sunday riders also in Raglan enjoying a great day..
After a coffee and bite to eat comes the walk around and photos which takes a while as much chit chat slows the process.
Time to head home and it is decided that we should leave on mass which makes for a great sight and sound with 27 italian bikes leaving town at once.
I feel sorry for any poor bugger that was driving home with family in-tow dreaming of a day when he can cruise these roads, only to have 27 thundering Italian bikes fiy past enjoying what he can only dream of.
We take in more great back roads on the way back to Okoroire for a quick stop and chat with many others that have been out enjoying the great sunny day before going our own way home.
