    Vodafone pirates.

I have no idea who is worser!
    Ok bear with me.
We obviously are with vodafone for our broadband. If you use up your monthly Gig allowance they have an option where you can double your Gig quota to the end of the month, for double the cost!.
The trick where they were ripping everyone off: If you ran over your Gig limit (100%), then you may run for 5-10 days on slow speed but still it was adding to your gig limit.
So the data usage would show you at say 125% after ten days of 56k speed net, ok?.
Then when you would double your data (and cost!!), they would only give you fast speeds upto 200%. That meant that you would only get fast broadband for the last 75%, costing you double, with the promise of DOUBLING YOUR DATA, which has not been true. You have just been ripped 25%.
It might not sound like much but 25% of 40Gig is a fair bit. Infact its 10Gig!.
My suspiscions were confirmed when about two months ago they have changed it, so now when you pay for double data, it actually adds 20Gig, from your last percentile.
So say if you were at 112%, then now when you double it, it wont run out until 212%.
I dont know whos worse, them or telecom.
Who else has vodafone, and does double their data, and never noticed this?.

yeah i noticed that after a short while too. thought it was a bit cheeky. just doubled as soon as the first lot ran out.
you should pay for double your data at fast speeds and anything that you dont pay for shouldnt count towards your total. good to know they have fixed it because you should get slow speeds for free yes considering how much we pay for average internet

You may be supprised they do not know.
They also may be able to do something about it for you.

Cos I should only pay for the pipe not the water, most of what you get didn't cost them or with local caching only cost them once and they charge everyone for it, both the same v-scum and t-scum, internet in this country is a license to print money for a very small club.

Last time I got close to data limit vodafone emailed me to say "hey look out your limit is bearing down on you like a runaway train..."

So I just went easy for the last three days of the period and incurred no extra costs....

Yes, TelstraClear do exactly the same. "You have reached 80% of your monthly amount".

    Quite easy to comprehend, really.

You know Vodafone is a privately run business, don't you? They receive none of your taxes.. !!

Maybe when what you'd prefer that when what you've paid for runs out, they just cut you off.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

I don't know how long you have used mobile broadband for, but this is a great deal! I use it a lot.

Previously (with Telecom as well) if you went over your allowance there were huge costs, like $1/MB or even more. It was easy to get a bill for thousands. Now I can contain by overage to just double the monthly cost. It's hugely cheaper.

Remember, this is not a landline based service. There is only so much frequency spectrum available for everyone to use. If one person used it up there would be nothing left for everyone else.
So basically they make it much more expensive to use up your allowance by putting in a pricing system that offers strong discouragement.

The fact he is discussing bandwidth in the "10's of gigs" I seriously doubt he is talking about Mobile broadband. more likely a dsl offering Vodafone supply (reselling Telecom Wholesale?).

Readign his post it sounds like he had been getting a total of 70gb Full Speed, and 10gb Reduced speed, whilst paying for 80gb full speed (40gb on the plan, and another 40gb on his double up). The reduced speed data is free normally, so it shouldn't be included in the 80gb data he has payed for.

residential broadband is hardly going to make you rich, with small margins eaten up when you ring for support.

Telecom big time data limit? What?
