Robbie Kneivel to attempt Canyon leap

Robbie Kneivel has announced he is to attempt his father’s most famous failed leap, over the Snake River Canyon.

Knievel wants to attempt the leap over the canyon – at places a quarter of a mile wide and well over 150 metres deep – on the Fourth of July weekend 2011. At this stage he still needs to obtain approval from local authorities.

Evel Knievel attempted the leap in 1974, using a rocket-powered Harley-Davisdson, only for a parachute malfunction to cause him to crash.

Was that a rocket powered Harley, or a rocket powered bike with a Harley sticker on it?
