    White helmets?

    Hi guys,

I'm after a new helmet, and am keen on a white one, mainly for visibility.

You'd think this would be easy and I wouldn't have to pay $600+ for one...but no. It appears white is out of fashion at the moment.

Anyone got any idea where I could get a plain white (no tribal crap), good quality helmet for less than $400?

    thanks!

Agree there is not much around

The Nolan N103 is available in white

As rachprice says, there are Arai's - but at the usual Arai gouge pricing

You may also find an HJC or similar at the very bottom of the range

I ended up importing a Bell for myself - wouldn't do that if I wasn't sure of the sizing.

    Enquire with TSS Red Baron

I got my LS2 helmet from them in white.

You might be better off going for a white with graphics.

Then again I'd doubt the statistics your basing your helmet buying decisions on.

Yeah when I say mainly for visibility what I really mean is that I think plain white helmets look frickin' sweet.....hehe. But then I thought I'd get a barrage of "forget about cool looking helmets, you should find the best fit and protection" etc etc.

Which is true - I just (naively) thought that a plain white helmet would be the most common and therefore cheapest option. Gah.

Eyegasm - thanks for that, I will give them a call!

Funnily enough most car racing helmets are white. There isn't much difference between a single seater helmet and a bike one.

The other option is to get some vinyl and apply a bold pattern yourself. 30min can make a helmet really stand out!

Cambridge do a series of helmets with a 4 or 5 star SHARP rating that are bright multi-coloured helmets. If you were in Auckland I'd tell you to go to Cycletreads.

FFM still do a plain white one, other than that there's not much about. I tried to buy one a while ago to match the wife's white one, gave up and bought a pair instead, my son gets a free helmet (to him) out of the deal

Yeah, fit is #1 concern, the road doesn't care what colour it is when you hit it. I went helmet shopping recently, money no object, tried everything, Shoei, Arai, Airoh, came home with a $200 Zeus full face, easily the most comfortable for my bonce AND it had the v cool retractable pilot-style internal sun visor. It has to pass standards to be sold in NZ.
