Anyway, good on you Ed, for remaining positive, and all the best for a speedy recovery. (I'm off to see if I can hang up the washing, despite being expressly prohibited from doing so...)
Yeah, I'm still losing weight, too. When I got out of the shower this morning and lay down I looked down and saw my ribs sticking up! I hadn't seen them for years!!!

It was great to meet you both and you're more than welcome to pop in any time you're in town!

Ha ha! You're hardly fat my dear! I'm sure a certain gentleman not too far from you would say you're about perfect...

And then you have the other end of the spectrum - the folk who are too skinny trying to put on weight! Been trying for years to put on weight, definately under my ideal weight, yet I only loose a little more. Odd huh?

You need the pill I take at night - mirtazapine. It helps me to sleep, but it also makes me hungry. It's actually a mild(ish) antidepressant, but is also used to treat anorexics or others who have trouble putting on weight. I've got used to it now, but it used to make me want to eat all the time.

Trust me, you've got nothing to worry about! You've been through a lot of "stuff" and your weight is the last thing you need to worry about. There will come a time when you'll worry you're putting on too much, enjoy being slim and trim for as long as you can...

Yes it really is amazing what stress can do for body weight, without even realising it. Over the past 3 months I have dropped about 6 kg, and I really didn't have that to spare before hand. Now the lightest that I have been since I was about 18. Yikes! Hopefully, when things calm down a little I can focus on putting that back on, and be a little healthier.

Oh Ed - my story of eating habbits and food would absolutely fascinate you! Will have to tell you my whole story one day, I have got my doctors stumped!

Now you've got me curious! I'd love to hear your story! I have to admit 6kg is a lot for someone your size. However, if you're still around your late-teens weight you're okay. I haven't been this weight since I was in my late 30's! I was shocked to see my ribs this morning!

I was drying my hands yesterday and the ring my daughter bought for me fell off! I broke my wedding ring months ago and was going to get it remoulded bigger as it had been resized twice in the past already but this week I just got it repaired and it's a wee bit too big now.

I'll have to change my profile pic now, I'm half the man I was, well almost...

Gidday gorgeous! Thanks for that, I'm doing okay, all things considered. Just a bit frustrated not being able to do much, I have to be a good boy and behave myself...

Just a quick wee update. I weighed myself this morning without the brace on and I've reached 88kg! I'm really chuffed!

Got my next appointment with the surgeon on 11th Aug. and am hoping the x-ray will confirm my feeling that the bone is starting to heal and that I will be able to dispense with the brace.

I've cut way down on the painkillers now and the brace is getting annoying so I'm hopeful I can chuck it away.

I don't recommend having your 4 year old grandson sleep with you though if you have a bad back. He fell asleep in our bed and instead of moving him to the spare bed, Jill left him with me. Aston gets a bit hot at night and as he was turning sideways and kicked the blankets off he got me twice in the back... and once in the eye! He's quite strong, will make a good footballer....

Bloody hell you are doing well!! That is great news And yes, I know what you mean about the point you realise that something is more of a hindrance than a help is a great sign. Fingers crossed

I am laughing over your description of your grandson in bed - my youngest was like that from the time he was born - I got over having him in bed for a snuggle for anything over 10 minutes when he was still very young.

My goal was 87kg so I am very happy! I'll be even happier once I can start exercising and regaining some muscles.

We did the having kids in our bed thing a long time ago but then the grandchildren come along... I didn't tell him, though, that would have only made him feel bad...

Once again, great news Ed - there really is no stopping you is there?

I truly love and believe the old saying "you can't keep a good man down" - thanks for proving this.

Keep it up young man, and our positive thoughts will be with you for the next X-Ray

Thanks Sweety! Or maybe, "You can't kill weeds!", or "Only the good die young!", (That'll make me immortal then!)

I've got a Doc app this morning, got a sharp pain high on right side under armpit. Feels like a knife stabbing me in the rib. I thought it was the brace pinching me at first but it's got worse over this week and quite sore, so thought I'd get him to check it out. Can't blame Aston for it this time...

Hi, Edbear! Glad to hear you're still doing OK.
Like you, I'm losing weight - lost about 7kg in the last few weeks. And also like you, I've had some annoying and random pains. One that I never sussed out (but which hasn't recurred, thank goodness!) was a very sharp pain (about a 9) in my right lower back. Dunno what it was, but I had a feeling if I went into A&E about it, it would mysteriously disappear. It only hurt when I breathed in or out. Think it might have been kidney related, but in the end, I managed to make it hurt all the time (which was better, for some perverse reason), then I found it easier to try to ignore, dropped off to sleep, and it was mostly gone when I work up. Now I've just gotta sort out why my left shoulder is buggered. Mentioned it to a couple of medical professionals, and they were stumped. Just have to keep taking paracetamol and using hot compresses, I guess.
Anyway, sorry - didn't mean to turn this into ravings about myself - just wanted to encourage you to keep positive, keep healing, and maybe we'll see you out and about soon.
    ... and that's what I think.
