Like you, I'm losing weight - lost about 7kg in the last few weeks. And also like you, I've had some annoying and random pains. One that I never sussed out (but which hasn't recurred, thank goodness!) was a very sharp pain (about a 9) in my right lower back. Dunno what it was, but I had a feeling if I went into A&E about it, it would mysteriously disappear. It only hurt when I breathed in or out. Think it might have been kidney related, but in the end, I managed to make it hurt all the time (which was better, for some perverse reason), then I found it easier to try to ignore, dropped off to sleep, and it was mostly gone when I work up. Now I've just gotta sort out why my left shoulder is buggered. Mentioned it to a couple of medical professionals, and they were stumped. Just have to keep taking paracetamol and using hot compresses, I guess.
Anyway, sorry - didn't mean to turn this into ravings about myself - just wanted to encourage you to keep positive, keep healing, and maybe we'll see you out and about soon.
Goodonyermate! Yeah, the Doc was pretty thorough but did say we can get all sorts of issues when we're coping with a serious injury. And me being in a substantial brace for most of the day means extra stress on other parts of the body. When sleeping you can favour the injured part which can irriitate the healthy bits.

It's likely that the brace has irritated the nerves and cartiledge under my arm and that the Tramadol was hiding the worst of the pain. So when I ran out and decided to make do with just the Panadol, the irritation became more pronounced as the Tramadol left the system. So I'm back on Tramadol and Diclophenac.

Upshot is be patient, put up with it and manage the pain best as you can and wait for things to heal. He congratulated me on my weight loss though. I was so chuffed I took a pic, but I was in my undies and I don't think I should post that on here... I did send it to my Mum, who's very pleased with me. My brother dared me to post it on facebook, but I'd probably be banned if I did that. If I posted it here, it would no doubt become someone's avatar or something...

Hee hee. It's one thing to bare my soul, but baring my body might just overload the system... Maybe after I've gone through rehab and I'm looking more like Dan Carter, (well we can dream, eh?)

Well, actually I think she dreams of me looking like Dan Carter... I'm just jealous of physiques like his and can't wait to get my rehab going.

One day he'll be old and saggy like us.

And just to cap off a lovely day...and very briefly hi jack your thread...

Got home to find the sealed papers from Court in my mail box! Yippee!

For those who have missed it, ive been fighting since the day after my Husbands funeral last year to keep our home. His family have supported his adult sons in having me removed from the home and forcing the sale so they can have his money. Well guess what? Do NOT fuck wiv Ratti, Im nice until you get me cornered.

Ahem, anyway. I get to keep our home, buy them out for a very small % of the value of the property. But it's doable.

Anyway, come party to celebrate wiv your ol' mate Ratti. 21st August, pm me for details.

    Cheers!

    Update

Just back from Greenlane and my appointment with the Orthopaedic Surgeon. Good news, I was very apprehensive and was hoping the x-ray would show some improvement, but was very happy to see the bone has knitted together nicely! I can ditch the brace, finally after 12 weeks!

I have to continue to be very careful, especially now. No bending, still can't drive and have to spend less time sitting up, more time resting. So I'll still need my caregiver every day who has been giving me those wonderful massages for at least the next four weeks until I am reassessed again.

However I can now begin some physio such as walking and swimming. At first, he said all I may be able to do is walk around the pool, but as long as I don't hurt my back, let the pain decide how much I do. He congratulated me on losing weight and encouraged me to lose a wee bit more, which I've been working on and am now down to 88kg and going for 85. At the time of my accident I was about 100kg! So Mrs. Bear and I are very happy today!

Oh Edbear - this is the most wonderful news. Look how far you have come over these past few months! I'm sure you will now sense a little more freedom being out of the brace, whilst still lapping up your good ladies help and attention.

What a good day indeed! See - good things take time?

Very happy to hear this news ed - no op! Now that's worth celebrating.
