Dag nab it!Surgical team came and saw me this morning and I have no choice but to have the operation. Going to be a major one, about 10hrs. They have to dismantle it and reconstruct it using bone from my hip and then put a cage around it. Have to open up chest and back, so not a quick fix I'm afraid.
Sheduled for next week not got day yet but the MRI and CT showed not very good and I've been told to be very careful about moving as it's rather delicate right now. Gotta have complete bed-rest. So unfortunately can't go galivanting around the place and chasing the nurses.Mind you they've been coming to me and holding my hand and caressing me..
(okay, so they're taking my bloodpressure and testing nerve function in my legs and feet...
)

Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
There is some rather important nerve function you should be asking them to test for you Ed...
Rather shattering news I know but I would hope that if I were ever in a similar situation I would handle it even half as well as you. Your humour and positive thoughts are an insperation my friend.

We'll call up and see you Saturday, maybe late morning?
Give him a big squeeze from Katiepie Maha - OH - No don't I've heard he has a bad back?
You know I would come and visit too Ed if I were up that way. Will just have to send you Boulevard bike porn by pix in the mean time.
You'll get through the op no worries at all. Very scary process to be thinking about, but best we get you fixed and good to go for the rest of your many years ahead huh? That a boy - and remember, if you call them, they will come (the pretty nurses).
Well the Doc did ask with that sideways look if everything was in working order...Seemed pleased when I said yes...
Love to see you mate! Anyone who wants to pop in is most welcome!
A big squeeze from you my dear? Bad back? What bad back..?![]()

Not quite what I wanted either, love... Still I have little choice, as the surgeon said the op is voluntary but I said "What's the alternative?" He said, "Well, you don't really have one.." My nerves are being affected now and the MRI showed pressure on the spinal cord so I'm under strict instructions to be very careful until the op as it's all rather delicate in there.
Thanks sweety!I'm under one of the best surgeons the staff tell me, and he seems confident so I figure I should come out the other side okay. I just know it's going to hurt a bit...

Paid a visit to Ed today and found him absolutely lapping up all the wonderful attention from his dedicated team of nurses. He has one of the best views over Auckland city I have ever seen and the sun was streaming in to his room. He has all the creature comforts a bloke needs, I saw laptop, radio, phone, bike magazines, chocolates to name but a few.
He has also kept it very quiet that he is sharing a room with a woman that is not his wifeMind you Jill (his lovely lady wife) is an absolute hunny and this one was not in the best of moods today, if I am completely honest. Poor thing she must have been feeling terrible, I got a growling for laughing
Good luck Ed, you will be fine. Nothing more wonderful to look forward to except a repaired spine that will see you good for the rest of your days. The one you have right now is useless!
Thoughts and prayers with you all. Give my love to Jill and the rest of your lovely family.
