Ed is a bit fuzzy today, well what I mean is he is a bit dopey, oh, not dopey, but a bit doolallie Drugs are working, but keeping him from thinking too clearly at times, but that is quite cute all the same.

Took him some grapes, but he is only allowed sips of water today so I got to eat a few of them for him, very yummy I must say. The big bad meanie has not attempted to put his brace back on, and he says the nurses looking after him are wonderful, which of course they are. He got one of them to take a pic of the chop job they did on him, quite impressive

It is not really gross if you want to have a look.

He has no PC yet, I doubt he would be up to operating one yet, though he may be very entertaining if he did

He is special, he has a ketamine constant infusion in one arm, and a morphine pump he controls in the other one. I made him grunt yesterday and I did not squeeze at all

Heard from Mr. Bear today. Sounds like he will be able to go home on Monday.

He is feeling much better today, after a rough few days, and no doubt greatly looking forward to getting home to get some rest in his comfort zone again, to focus on his recovery.

Good stuff Ed! Hope they do stick to the Monday plan, and we all look forward to hearing from you again on here.

Well, I did come home on Monday afternoon, but it was an endurance test for sure, despite my daughter having a comfy Honda Odysee!

I've not been well for the first couple of days, but much better today, (Yay for drugs!)

The op was a success though, the surgeon was pleased, the Registrar was pleased the Anaethsetist was pleased and I hurt.. I was told it was a major operation and that pain would be an issue for about 6mths, but you know how we are, eh? I'm on Panadol, Tramadol and Morphine and I'm coping as long as I'm careful.

I get to miss out on my massage for a while though, due to the obvious wounds that need to heal, but I still get moisturised. Showering is a longer, slower exercise too. I get my lunch made for me as well before my caregiver leaves. She really spoils me! Brings me my Berocca and a coffee and makes my lunch...

This new brace is a bit slimmer and more comfortable than the last one and my lower back is much better now without that extra strain on it. I'm waiting for my scans to come to me so I'll see if I can post a pic or two of the before and after shots. The before xray was scary to see and I could understand him putting me straight into hospital. The spinal cord was being compressed and the spine had collapsed, crushing the broken vertebrae and twisting 32 degrees out of alignment. In was put on strict bedrest until the op.

I'm now down to 82kg! From 98kg at the time of the accident on 12th May. I look in the mirror now and try to remember what it was like to be 16kg heavier!

It's great to be back home again!

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Well, some say strong will, others say doggedly stubborn, I say, "Drugs! Gimmee drugs!"

Didn't really have a choice, I asked the Doc what the alternative was after he described the operation and he sorta gave me that thoughtful, knowing look that only surgeons seem to perfect and replied, "Well, you don't really have one..."

What's that they say about necessity being the mother of invention...?
