Question Does this sprocket/chain need replacing?

    'Ello ello Kiwibiker...

After a 2+ year hiatus I am | | this close to upgrading back down to two wheels...

Have got a high res pic of the chain and sprockets of the bike. Could someone give me an idea of the condition, and whether they will need replacing?

Bling for the first person to pick the make/model

Should post in maintenance section. Can't tell from a pic, best test is to try pull away from back of sprocket, if it comes away more than a few mm it's stretched. But more importantly spin the wheel carefully with the chain adjusted & check for tight spots. That will indicate knackered. It is a low quality non o-ring chain by the looks. Spring clips are dodgy. Change sprockets at same time if chain is stretched rather than just tight spots, but 4/5 they will wear new chain faster if not replaced. Bike will be a VFR/RVF400, guessing rim too small for a RC 30 so NC 30 or 35, probably 30. Not enough of a Honda trainspotter to know.

The Sprockets look alright to me.

The chain might need replacing. Does it have many tight spots in it? Could probably do with a oiling though, its got a bit of rust on it.

I'm gonna guess that it's a Honda CBR 400. I know its a Honda, thats a dead give away.

I'd change the chain to an O-ring just to be on the safe side.

would have writen the exact same... and added if the chain has a split link, role it out and I bet it will bend to the side some what, ya cant beat a O ring, and agree with ya its a the pro arm means its a VFR.
    cheers DD

You can clearly see the single sided swingarm - so it's a RVF or a VFR or similar.

Sprocket you can see looks fine. Chain is showing surface rust which isnt a major, but some TLC and lube wouldn't go astray
Chain Wax or a Scottoiler !!
