Bought tickets (off trade me) to mission concert when Clapton played, cost us $450 for two on buy now, reason they sold out within 3 hours, did I regret it nope, when he came back last year managed to get tickets and was at vector, outdoors was better, but indoors was ok for that concert.
In one way I think who cares, but then I get pissed when people buy 10 tickets and flog them off for 10x value.Shouls be a limit of say 4 tickets each time online,if you can get another 4 then no problem, makes it fair to all.Good old supply and demand,my view is I'd have grabbed 4 tickets(2 for us and others for mates,if mates didn't want them, then maybe trademe at $50 -$100 above to cover t shirts or fuel, but not $500 each ffs).

Scalpers and TradeMe can suck my smooth scrotum...
Scalpers deserve what they get Plus a hiding and TradeMe should put their hand up and challenge these pricks. TradeMe 'Trust and Confidence' my arse - Tui anyone
Chill you know what will happen - the promoter will announce that due to demand there will be a second concert.
Of interest to fans - I know someone who is a paid up fan club member - he purchased tickets last Friday. It is a benefit for fan club members.
They have obviously taken their inspiration from the Thugby World Cup pricing structure.
At least Metallica would be enjoyable.

I think you also fail to understand common sense. Lets say someone in your family died and I owned the only church available. Now since I own the church I will sell tickets to the funeral to the highest bidder. Now I couldn't give a fuck about your loss etc... because I will apply your argument here and don't see what I'm doing as wrong. Get me?![]()

The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.

I have just registered my disgust by reporting every auction on TradeMe using the Community Watch function. No ticket is being printed or release prior to 1 Sep 2010, which means none of the sellers have a physical item to sell, thereby breaching the TradeMe T&Cs.
I assume we are discussing the last 4 definitions of scalping that Rustic101 posted. Perhaps I am missing something here but I am finding it difficult discovering any degree of immoral practice in those definitions. Sure strip-mining or tearing someones scalp off is pretty rough but "To resell at a price higher than the established value" or "To buy and sell (securities or commodities) in order to make small quick profits." really don't engender a sense of outrage in me. I always thought ticket buying was a `first in first served' type of game. I have attended concerts before and I have also missed out on tickets, c'est la vie.
I don't see why anyone would feel that a ticket seller to a rock concert or sports game has a moral responsibility to ensure that all fans get a ticket at original sale price and that any onsold tickets are sold at cost.
I've already voiced my pissedoffness over this shit, it sucks arse and trademe should man up and take the auctions down (and scalpers can burn in fucking hell.....)
Anyway, a couple of things.....
Metallica are doing two concerts, both sold out within 10 minutes or something.
I read when I was trying to get tickets that they would ask for ID when you collect your tickets.
I've heard the reason for Vectra arena is that they will only play indoor gigs (Word of mouth, but tis what I heard).
Thinking of trying to get tickets to an Australian concert rather than pay scalping cunts a cent more than the tickets were bought for, I'd rather take a trip to Aussie.

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
easy - people stop going to the church, and start using back yards instead.
scalpers exist because people pay the $$. simple as that. did the person who got $750 for justin beiber's drink bottle get this level of scalper-hate? no - she just fleeced someone.
FFS - it's only fucking metallica. spend the $$ taking your children snow skiing for the day. or spend it on a Cali. Super Bike School hire-bike track day and rape someone elses machine![]()
Trade me are to make money, selling tickets due to any reason is legal,i.e I bought 2 for mates and can't go,my mum needs an operation etc.And if tickets sell for $500 each trademe make a few $$$,so why kill the income.End of the day if the promoters put another show on that may alleviate the scalping, but not often we get 3 shows in a city, but man would it piss the scalpers off if the promoter said heck we'll do 2 more shows in Vector, another 1 in Welly and Chch, which they could do if the tour is at the end of the oceania leg.
