xr-riders Pre89 rd1

Qualifying
took it easy getting used to the wet again. i had 2 near highsides out of higgins. feeling really good about how i done then seeing i got 13th on the grid and 8th pre 89 jnr made me feel better. i had only done a 1.37.720 but that was enough for my given the conditions

Race 1
Absolutely screwed up the start sending the front wheel skyward and having to back off. quite a few people passed me as a result but being my first real meaningful race on it i wasn't that worried about placings. i got a couple of positions back before getting into a battle with Abby. this lasted for a while, i didn't have the straight line speed but i had the corner speed. i passed here with a couple of laps to go then the pain was setting in and i couldn't use the clutch and it hurt to brake so i relaxed. on the last lap she passed me out of the hairpin and lead me into higgins where i made a pass around the outside and held it till the end.
i finished 7th in my class with a best lap of 1.28.935

Race 2
buggered the start again but not quite as bad as the first. had warren pass me so i stayed with him and passed him into turn 1 on lap 2. i knew i couldn't relax as i had a very fast group right behind me. on the last lap Bob tried to get up the inside of me at the hairpin but couldn't quite do it. finished 5th place with a best lap of 1.27.952.

Finally a big thank you to Billy for doing my back tire for me, that helped a lot in qualifying.
Hopefully have new tires for the next round. Can't wait for it

i still need to get those starts sorted. just can't quite get it right

My excuse is I keep changing bikes :-) That's in interesting choice of bike you've made BTW. At least Glen and Mossy made our first race a lap shorter.

Practice the starts Jeff , lots of practice. That bike gets away well if you can master it.
You did ok on Sat Jeff , keep it up.

Jeff you are without a doubt getting better....Saturday was just not your day for starts.....Bit of practice & maybe just relax alittle....

Just dont try to launch it with too many revs on (cause you know how much it stands up aye lol).
Slight slipping of the clutch and its away real good Jeff.
