GoPro bike camera review on stuff's homepage today

I'm sure there must be threads on bike cameras here already, but saw this review today while idly grazing on the interdweeb.

With 32GB space on an sd card you can record vids or set it up for x second snapping. The reviewer was surprised at the incident rate of pedestrians setting out in front of cycles (bicycles, that is), how close vans etc. got to him, and naughtiness from other cyclists sharing the road with him.

$550 NZD buying from here or about $450 (probably a bit less) ordering straight from the website. I am close to buying an HD camera for the bike and for the upcoming snow season.

Great camera but get the HD. It's supposed to be well worth the extra $$
The camera is VERY picky with SD cards. The Kingston 16gb Class IV card is the only one I've heard that has had no problems with skipping or cutting out.
Wind noise is still quite noticeable however positioning the camera behind the windscreen seems to be MUCH better.
I do wish the camera had some kind of image stabilisation though

The Go Pro HD is stunning.
To give you an idea, here is a race with the camera attached to my bike. This video had the quality reduced to make the upload smaller + YouTube compression as well. When played directly on a HD TV

I've got a GoPro HD. Sweet bit of kit. I bought a chest harness for it the other day to wear it playing paintball. It was like a first person shooter but in real life! I plug mine straight into my PS3 and watch it in HD on the big screen. It's worth the extra coin over the standard version.

Nah most of the footage consisted of me walking back and forward from the base after getting hit and buying more ammo. I'll try and get a bit of footage up next week. I don't own a computer so it makes it a bit tricky.

I do recommend the chest mount over the helmet mount though. I wore the camera on the side of my helmet on a trail ride but the wide angle lens makes it look as though the bike is two metres below me. The chest mount on the other hand is a little more immersive capturing your arms and such.

Buy it from the GoPro website, US and including the postage to NZ. it will be less than half price (with the mounts ) of what it costs here without the mounts.

Yeah I think I saw one of yours on SMJunkie. Did you have the open door on the back or the closed?

I am using the suction cup mount on the tank.
I have mounted like tha on a Hornet 900 and the FXR (race bike) without issues. The FXR does not vibrate much and does not have a high top speed so that helps. Plus the track is smooth.

US price = $300 @.7000 exchange rate = NZ $428 + postage = around $450
NZ price = $550

I considered buying overseas, but was happy to pay the additional $100 for NZ business and warranty peace of mind.
