I had a nice pleasant cruise at the back of the pack. Apart from being stuck behind a police car for a while.

Cheers for organising the ride Death_Inc. Nice pleasant cruise in the country side
It is better to have ridden & crashed than never to have ridden at all

Glad to hear it was a 'successful' KB ride today. How many riders turned up?

    Fark!

What a day, what a ride. No one else seems to have put a ride report so here's mine:

I went to bed at about 4am after putting the finishing touches on the ZXR250, finishing touches you say, yeah well anyway. Got up again at 9am, (not a morning person at all) Got me shit together knew i wasn't going to make AB by 10am, so missed the first group leaving there, thinking i'd have heaps of time to make up i stuck to SH2 then off to the coromandel with my bum up and head buried behind the fairing, hang on i had no fairings, anyhow by the miracle of not seeing any police en route i got to kopu by 11am, only to find the Hammy posse and a group from Morrinsville. No auckland crew, after waiting 15mins we all figured someone had chucked it down the road already, but no, they all turned up just after 11.30am, feuled up we all took off towards coromandel township, i started at the back and was slowly working my way up the convoy along the waterfront, and got clear road for the first hill, right time to see what this little sucker can do...

Not a hell of lot it seemed, the brakes were non exsistent, she weren't no TL for sure in the power stakes but it was a hell of alot of fun to ride, i caught upto sAsLEX and then a few others going into coromandel.
The climb up the hill saw me and twosmoker ring the shit out of our bikes in a vain attempt to catch John, (we can dream can't we) I make my apology now to anyone i duffed up going along that strecth of road some of my passing moves were a little keen......... so yeah sorry to anyone who might have an issue with that. Once we got off the hill me and chris basiclly had the throttle pinned all the way to whitianga, with no fairing i was stuck at 150kph on the flat, although i saw 170kph on a downhill, wayhey........
    Lunch at whitianaga, blah blah.
750Y kindly lent me his GSXR1000K3 for a blat, and i took that all the wya to Kopu, holy fucken shit, those bikes can get along alright. I wont go into details but those who saw me knew i wasn't dicking around, it's one fast peice of kit thats for sure.
750Y gladdy gave me my beast of a ZXR back noticing there was one bolt holding the muffler on and the hanger had come loose earlier, arrr she'll be right mate, and i tottled off home, well to work. Halfway through Miranda and the ZXR picked up about 100 decibels as the muffler bounced down the road, dooohhh, running back to pick it up, chcuked it on my lap and then hightailed it to 750Y's place hoping, praying no cops saw me cause i wasn't exactly discret (not to mention the no WOF or Reg, ooppps). Made it with Dave not far behind, unable to fix the bike he lent me the Gixxer again to get to work.
Work was fricken busy and i was sore as #$%^ from being squished up on a 250 most of the day, i now am in the most pain i have ever been in and i can't walk very well.
But it was all worth it indeed, fantastic day, fantastic ride, and fantastic people to ride with, meet heaps of new faces and was great to get out on a KB ride after 5 months out of it.

Hope to see you all soon again.

Well first point you flew past me not caught up, must of been the fastest you saw on that thing all day, cause you sure didn want to break at the bottom of the hill!

The stoppies coming in to whagamata probaly didnt help the muffler much! how was the flatspot in the rear from your Mr Skid style backing it down a straight piece of road?

And lastly thats all the pies you've had over the past five months doing that to you

ZED, best bit of the day was coming down the hill eastern side of Coromandel, was all on my own and John caught up to me so I waved him through then tried to follow him through some of the tight 25/15 type stuff and managed to keep him relatively in sight, with him only pulling away when we came up on some "backmarkers" and my passing opurtunity was ruined by two nutters who shall remain unamed on a 250 and a 150!!

All in all a good day, seems no one had a camera, first time out after ages off the bike, well faster stuff so was good to get back in to it, was tired on the way home so held up some poor guy on a CBR600 forget your name, but we ended up having to ask a couple of lady cops( who had gotten a flattie and were waiting for someone to come fix it) directions once we came out of the gorge in papakura!

oh and here is a google pic

thanks again Death for getting our arses out there on the roads Hope our KBers from up norf enjoyed it. The fella on the silver Gixxer sure looked like he was enjoying himself!

Awesome wheelies too Death. First time I've seen them with me own eyes, although I was only ever close enough once to see a nice one at Miranda

Was a great , with a decent dollop of served up. Especially for June. Now then, who's gonna claim to have the special (and successful) relationship with the rain god: Quasi or TS?!?!? And farkin 'ell - there was a lotta bikes! Someone get a pictorial account up soon please!

My apologies to whoever I was talking to and appeared vague or distant (erm, even more than usual...). I've had tinnitus in the right ear since Saturday and couldn't hear you. Only a fierce high pitched tone
Particularly to 750Y. Sorry Dave, I was meaning to chat more, but just couldn't hear shite. And I wanted to ride with you guys, but just couldn't keep up with you and Kawagreen - you were obviously keeping your finger off the reverse turbo trigger

Bike of the day has to be Torque's K5 Thou

Funny guy of the day: the Bruce of Loose. He must have run the equivalent of a marathon alongside the ZXR, trying to get it started And I'm not even counting getting it going from westyville during the night!

My aim after this ride is to not squidify my bike further. No, it is to have it as spiffingly shiny as Kawagreen's! We both agreed that is why he rides at the back - he's stopping with his polishing cloth every 5 minutes! But I gonna stick to using my tyre pressure gauge fella

    See y'all out there

Silly me thinking everyone knows Hunuia rd except for me Anyway it all turned out OK and we were on the right end of a conversation with the cops.

All in all a good day and the weather held out. Made the right choice putting on the leathers rather than the Cordura, but got to watch this rain that makes them shrink.

Seeya all on the next ride

I had to keep stopping and cleaning the bike, its got to look good for all the tourists when they take a photo of the cleanest 636 they have ever seen. I had a terrrible job coming into Kopu on the return trip dodging all the rain drops.
Soz anyone who got stuck behind me, I dont like that bit of road especially in the wet.

Sheesh, that's two rides in a row where you've failed to make YOUR agreed rendezvous point And of all of the thousands of miles in this great land, it's happened in the same area. Once, now that's an innocent mistake, but twice...? You must be one of those guys that thinks learning/storing items in memory are for those soft amateur hacks with no sense of adventure huh?

If you're not careful you might end up being dubbed "Just Some Other Guy" with that level of navigational prowess.

AND you didn't help the nice with her tyre?!?!What kinda ignorant bastiges are ya?
"Yes, occifer, I's bin a baaaad boy. Punish me now!"

Alex, you had no hope of remembering his weird Asian brutha name - or his handle. You got the bike right of course, and how is anyone meant to remember that NinjaBoy rides a CBR?!?!

    /looney rant over

    Thanx all,it was great!
Thanx to whichever one of you sacrificed the virgin(or fembot)to the raingods to keep 'em happy
Good turnout,23 of us at kaiawa, then the hamilton and morrinsville crew as well, with a huge variety of bikes from the k5 gixx to some cruisers.
Met up at the ab,good clean run to clevedon to pick up a few others, then on to kaiawa,a bit damp in places, going through some of the tree-covered windys had a bit of trouble with the rear stepping out everytime I tried to gas it up to pass someone....so eased off til it dried out a bit.
Had a re-group at kaiawa then on to kopu (not too many wheelies...had too many hp related scares down there...) met up with the others then headed clockwise round the loop, dried out after a short time so took off in persuit of TS and john, passed a few through the waterfront then finally got past TS over the hill, caught john who seemed to be cruising at the bottom, then a couple of wheelies later stopped at coromandel fire station for another regroup.
Then off to whitianga for lunch after starting off after half the group had another good run, pissed myself passing bruce on the mighty 250,lying flat doing about 20kph behind TS. Got to whitianga (never caught john.....)for lunch. Another flat out run trying to catch john and the boys who took off after me (I was up the road getting gas),never caught 'em though and stopped at the whangamata turnoff to see off those that were going that way. After a while waiting and seeing a Quasi and crew off I decided to head back to see where everyone was.....not too far back found MV and others trying to fix her bike, had a look and it looks like the rectifier had shit cooking the battery....bugger.One of the boys arranged to leave it at a farmers shed and Wonko gave her a lift home.
Good clean run back, just cruised back up 2 (it was starting to rain and we had to uplift the rugrat from one of bruces workers who'd kindly looked after her for the day)got home not too late.
A bloody good day,you all shoulda come.
Impressed with MV's riding, come a long way from last time I rode with you,and Saslex, again much improved on the 400.
Rider of the day had to be Bruce on the ZXR250 special POS edition, after putting it together at 3am still put on a good pace despite stuffed tyres and no brakes
