You've given me a good laugh my lad, cheers for that. And my post achieved it's desired effect in that it wound up a soccer supporter. Personally I have no interest in ball games of any genre; my preferred sport is toying with people and I am grateful you entertained me by playing my little game with me on this cold and bleak winters morning.

None of the Sunday league footballers I played with could have managed a game of rugby in a '7' shirt...but not many my rugby team's backs could have managed a game in central midfield either. I know which set of players were most likely to put their bodies on the line for a win though and it wasn't the team of 11.

Sunday league...I play that sometimes as a warm-down from my Saturday game. Ok, only joking as another few seasons and I'll not be playing Saturday but it's a bit like comparing a game of touch with the real thing. Come to think of it, I'd take on one of the rugby back's anytime before one of them huge fuggin ex pommie cops/forces guys I always seem to receive bone crunching tackles from during a not so genteel game of Sunday league.

Probably, but I guess they'll be good loser, take it in good humor, won't be sacking the manger, won't spend weeks analysing it and it won't be a national disaster. Be fair to say I'm quite looking forward to it. I'd look forward to watching the odd Rugby World Cup game too if there wasn't such a hoohah about it.

Well OK they have done that now and moved soccer up another peg in NZ but it has only given me a chance to vote in the OP's poll.

I am genuinely pleased for soccer and it's followers in NZ but give me a break FFS! (gotta do it all again next year with the RWC damn it)

Yeah but I would rather be excited about us trying to win something as underdogs, than losing like a pro.
