    3d tv

What the hell is that all about?
At Noel Leemings last week (spending Fly Buys) and had a look at the all new 3D TV.
Personally, I will never fork out the thousands to get into the coming craze.
$120 for a pair a glasses!!....if you are a family of six, theres $720 right there!

They showed the State of Origin in 3D last night in Aussie, a one off I would imagine. But those that watched it will probably rush out and spend.....suckers!
Only DVD's will be avaliable in 3D here in NZ, regular programming is a while away yet.

While its pretty cool, its a big na from me.
Whats sort of dork would you feel sitting at home wearing special glasses while watching TV?

    It's awesome

As you say, not good for anything but bragging rights in the short term, but that's where TV will be going.

    It probably is yes....
And yes it is awesome to watch.
They had a split screen to view, the non 3D bit was not as clear as you would like so, buying a 3D capable TV as your on TV would not be the best move.

The 3DTV I tried at HN could apply the effect to any media displayed on the TV.

It was quite impressive, Not overly expensive and whether in 2D or 3d the image quality was damn fine.

I'm not about to rush out and buy one, but next time I'm TV shopping it will be a 3DTV, however I expect a decade from the TV I just bought.

Also, The glasses sucked, My sunnies cost $20 and are far more comfortable.

A surprising percentage of the population suffers from what is known colloquially as "lazy eye". This means that even though both eyes work, they don't have properly functioning stereoscopic vision. Such people would be completely wasting their money buying a 3D TV, and would be recommended to have an eye test first. Or, if they're cheap buggers, they could get somebody to take their photo with a flash camera and see how many red eyes are staring back in the resulting photograph.

I've never paid for a TV in my life, there is always someone giving away old technology to get the latest.I hope when they are dumping those old 3D sets they have the glasses too, otherwise I'll have to scrounge for them separately.

I can wait till they make it work without the glasses. That and my TV isn't 10 years old yet, I expect that at the very least.

as long as it brings down the price of the full hd tv's i'll be a happy fulla... I won't buy a 3d TV, i'd rather watch TV in 2d and have the 3d as a movie treat...
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

3D 3D or not 3D, that is the question.

I have a very dominant right eye (FUCK YOU AA AND YOUR STUPID EYE TEST MACHINES!) and I really struggle with the traditional 3d setup (the stupid green lens/red lens glasses), but I saw a 3d movie at the cinema the other day and was well impressed. The glasses are totally different (the tv ones seem to be the same). The image is phased vertically, instead of horizontally so it doesn't affect those of us with 'bung eye'.

The glasses were uncomfortable as hell though. Kept falling down my nose. That was an irritation.
