Slicks... Old slicks... anything that can be done to use them?

Just picked up an old bucketframe with no motor but it does have old 18in slicks that are near brand new.... no cracking etc... feel hard ...

Anything that can be done to use them?
Attack with a sanding disc... might be safer than trying to scrub them in?

This is for my CG150 bucket.... dont want to spend the coin on new wheels etc...
    One for the road...

Kart shops sell a liquid tyre treatment that you paint on which softens them, 18 inch slicks haven't been made in those sizes for probably close to 20 years
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

Pull finger and finish the FXR so you don't have to mess about with tyres that are 90 years older than god?

Kartsport has banned tyre doping so not sure if the shops still sell it. Active ingrediant was oil of wintergreen.
The trouble you've got i that over time the oils and solvents that make the rubber sticky evaporates and they behave like leather. Pretend that they are down to canvas and throw them away :-(

I gave a 10 year old, at least, slick to Olly. About 5 laps into the next practice he rode around me in the sweeper. Give them a go, they might be good enough after a bit of a scrub in.
