Scratches on my exhaust - What polish would you recommend?

Two inbred dipfucks pulled my bike over yesterday whilst I was in Otahuhu (Aint going back there again!) and as a result I now have some scratches and scuffs on my exhausts.

Does anyone know of a good chrome polish that will help get rid of most of the marks?

I think autosol is meant to be pretty good at polishing. Not sure about removing scratches though.

+1 on autosol - you may need to do several applications.

If the scratches are deep, you may need something more aggressive than Autosol (it has very fine grit). Maybe even start with some very very fine wet'n'dry, like 1200 or finer. If it's just scuffing, then just Autosol and ElboneGreeze.

Tried to take a photo but its come out blurry as shit. I'm going to try Autosol, I know it aint going to fix it fully but it'll be better than nothing. Any ideas on something I can put over the scratches to prevent rust?

What about something for removing rust pitting on the exhaust? Would something like Autosol work for that too?

yep Autosol will work with fine scratches..anything deeper go see a painter and see if he can buff the scratches out..ive noticed that autosol seems to leave some sort of coating on any bare metal and it seems to stop the rust

If the scratches are through the chrome and nickel coating, there is nothing you can do.

If the scratches are only partially through the chrome layer, then you can polish it out with a semi-abrasive polish. Autosol may do that, especially if you use a very high RPM polishing wheel.

Keep in mind to buff out scratches is to actually remove plating material from around the scratches and smooth out any lipping. Essentially, continuing to polish out scratches with a semi abrasive polish will wear the chrome down to it's nickel, and eventually down to the raw metal. The stock exhaust on my bike had reached that point.

I only use autosol when a bike comes in with pitting in the chrome, from being ridden by the ocean a lot. Autosol can smooth out a lot of the pitting.

In other words, you may be able to polish the scratches to appear a bit better but they will always be there if you look closely. The only cure for dings that are deeper than the chrome layer is to re-plate.

Dunno if you guys have it over here but Meguires do brilliant cleaners and polishes,pretty expensive but a tiny bit goes a long way and they have a specific metal and chrome one.

We have Meguires. Very good products, but expensive and their packaging is rubbish.
