Red Baron

We bought FlyingGirls CBR from red barron.
he had it listed on trademe as a "parts bike". i gave him a call to find out the reg was on hold, the boys in the workshop had been riding it around for the odd job. it was a trade in that wasn't good enough for the show room, but he felt was too good to pull to bits (he even put brand new tyres on it). had a few chats with him to make sure that i had all the info i needed.

a trip to auckland and $1500 later we had a motor bike.
got a phone call from them today to let me know there was a problem, the rego had come off hold and was lapsed (de-reg). at that exact moment i thought we were done for, no way could we find the money for the re-cert. with out any questioning from me he proceeded to explain that they wanted to put things right, but they needed the bike to do it. that not being an option he came up with a new plan.

they are paying for Boyds to do the brake cert for us (we were in there shopping for gear at the time), they are also putting the money in our account for the re-cert from VTNZ, thus bringing the bike up to the condition they claimed it was.

thought i would post this up as i have talked to people about Red Baron before we bought the bike and got a couple of eye rolls, they didn't have anything bad to say about them, but didn't have anything good either.

These guys have gone above and beyond, we didn't get anything from them in writing saying that the rego was on hold, and by thier own merits they found a problem and are moving the heavens to set it right.

We will definatly be keeping service like this in mind when it's time for a new bike, or even just an auckland spending spree.

things like this earn reputation,
you dont hear much of it ,
but negative rep spreads fast and is-int good for a company
glad they jumped though hoops to sort ya

I have gone in a couple of times to buy gear and being a newbie they gave me heaps of help and advice. I also got my beloved boots there that were the last ones an my size (XS small feet) and just what I had been looking for.
They are always helpful and knowledgeable if you ring for parts as well.

Another thumbs up from me.

They always looked after the little Spada that I bought from them. Then, not having been there in years, I popped into the workshop to ask if they knew where a bike wrecker who was allegedly based in Ponsonby was. I was keen to find this wrecker as they potentially had the only spare NC30 indicator switch in the whole of NZ. They hadn't heard of the wreckers but the customer service guy disappeared out the back and when he reappeared he was clutching a brand new used NC30 indicator switch. At that moment he was that beautiful I could have kissed him.
I had spent the last two weeks talking to anybody and everybody I could think of in search of that switch. Nobody could help or thought I had much of a chance.

I was in Red Baron on Friday morning. By Friday evening the bike and I were in Stratford, about to embark on the best weekend of road riding that I've ever enjoyed.

So yeah, props to Red Baron.

Times are still tough, its filtered through the dealers who didnt give a shit about you when they were selling bikes like hot cakes, red baron is still on my wont go back list from the way they treated me AFTER I purchased a 10k bike from them.Lessons learned, hope they are doing well.
