The big question is---> has buckets taken over as the NZ's premiere formula class yet????
I think at Taupo there was the max number of bikes (42?) allowed, more F4 bikes on the grid than any other class????

That bike of Wallys is pretty light and Daves 100 should be quick, great, lots of interesting stuff going on.

Buckets are NZ's premiere formula class, most bang for buck fun anyway.

While I was waiting at the BP yesterday for them to finish fixing the oil leak in the Gulf and to finish making my coffee, i went and read their magazines, KR or BRM not sure which, had a story about some CBR150 scheme that somebody has dreamt up. for $500 per round (season) you get to race a CBR150 set up lika race bike . They hope to have 10 starters. Is thi the best marketing thing since tying weed onto a stick ?

Down here thats just bucket racing, doesnt matter how flash you paint them up, they just buckets . Last year we ran a one make / model series over 6 rounds "The FXR Cup" was $5 to enter but you provided your own bike. We wernt to anal on rules , just FXR engine, normal bucket rules apply. They are promoting this CBR stuff as "propper" racing. If the powers that be saw how popular it is to have bukets on big tracks they may be suprised. we had 25 entries in te FXR cup and awarded over $1000 in prizes and money (ok we didnt make any money).

Buckets is a bit like the new sherrif in Blazing saddles, everyone knows its good just not ready to be seen out in public yet
My neighbours diary says I have boundary issues

Being a bit of a cynic and all I suspect the reason they don't want buckets at other meets is that it is such a laugh that it may stop people going off and getting "proper" race bikes. Until now in Auckland that hasn't been too much of an issue since you'd have to be a bit retarded to want to ride a bucket round Puke in any case. Hampton Downs however might be another story.

It'd be awesome (thats coming from some who doesn't favour large track racing on buckets) except for maybe the climb up the hill onto the start finish straight

Is that, you don't enjoy riding a Bucket on a large track yourself or you think its wrong to run Buckets on a full track?

In a somewhat retarded moment Team ESE ran a GP125 on methanol and 15% nitro around Puke one track day, Chambers pissed off a few big bikes, overtaking them at both ends of the track, around the sweeper or through the esses and over the hill.

    What fun it was.........

No objection to long tracks, just that you'd have time to read a book down the back straight. Not a great fan of puke even on a full sized bike to be honest, but that's just my opinion.

Given these comments and the large numbers of riders and bikes, why arn't we as a whole working together and making sure we have some representation in MNZ? Not that i want to stiff any active clubs around the country but why hasn't the conversation started about a national body for bucket racing (aka sidecar association)?

anyway back to the CBR150 class thingy thats going on. what a hoot (at lease some more cbr150s being available for buckets in the next few years), I can't really see mum and dads paying 500 at shot for the crazy kids to go racing.
But when i saw it being offered up, i though to myself how many opportunities is this going to open up for buckets in the mainstream sport. the speed differentials between streetstock and a cbr150 is going to be quite large, so are they going to make a new class for them or hang them off the back?? if they are going to leave them in, then why not full the field right up with buckets? we've already seen plenty of embarrassed streetstockers over resent years.

Hmm, the CBR150 that runs down here has no problem running at the front of the Streetstock class.

A bit of both, although the likes of B track and Taupo short track are ok, Levels is also ok as it really only has 1 decent straight, but the likes of Manfield, Puke and even Teretonga

Manfeild is OK on a fast bucket, I've chased Stefan Merriman round there with him on a CR125, great fun. That was the old main track. Even Puke isn't as bad as you'd think, always trying to suck in behind someone and lining them up for the pass under brakes. The sweeper at the end of the front straight was good for getting past the streetstock guys, they'd be scraping and you could ride round them still flat on the tank.

    Now that would be entertaining.

Did you see much of a performance gain with the nitro blend ?

As you probably have figured out ProX pg51 do one that seems legal for a rod.
not totally sure, but i think the RGV250 is the same ask TZ not sure if available individually though ie without the rest of the crank.

KTM do a lovely bearing but you can't use that. KTM also do a nice strong rod but can't use that either.
There is a yummy MMC one that weighs only 98 grams as well but you can't use that either.Unless you custom order it then it would be legal?

Anyway I digress here is a nice 37mm big end long rod SR125 in the first list
