    Motorcycle universal gear indicator

    saw this on hackaday just now. looks like pretty neat mod

    basically using a magnet and two hall sensors, it figures out when you gear up and gear down, and then changes the number up and down as appropriate. re-calibrates on neutral.

    I dunno though, I miss gears all the time, seems like it would be quite easy to get it out of sync.

    Yep, it's a crap idea. He'll never make much of an engineer if he can't see that.
