    cbr250r mc19 brakes & suspension

    Hi,
just wondering if the single front disc cbr250r stops any differently than the cbr250rr which has smaller twin discs. Thinking about racing an mc19 if they stop well as they are much cheaper than mc22. There are some swingarm differences too but I could probably live with that.
    thanks.

Apparently the MC22s stop a lot better than the MC19, but with some decent pads and fresh fluid the MC19 has more than adequate braking performance.

I know it depends a lot on pad selection, but I have hauled my MC22 up on a couple of occasions on the front brake (after almost stacking it I decided to learn how to do proper emergency braking) and it'll stand up on the front wheel if you know what you're doing... Weird feeling, the first time I did it, and not something I would normally aspire to accomplishing, but nice to know the brakes do what they are told!

Oh, by the way, I'm using Ferodo Platinum ("street") pads, with stock calipers and rotors (but with braided brake lines).

Honestly, I couldn't tell you if braided lines do much difference, they're supposed to improve feel by eliminating the flex (ballooning) that the rubber lines sometimes get after a while (like 20 years) when you squeeze the lever, but it's something so miniscule that you cant really notice it... On cars it makes a difference, but on a bike I don't think so.

    Does look cool though!

i would also like to know some more opinions on MC19 braking. Does it have the power to lock the front wheel with a moderate squeeze?

It should do, but I've never braked as hard as possible on mine. I have gone pretty hard on the front anchor though.

The braided lines on my mrs SV650 feel like shit compared to the stock rubber ones on my GSXR1000. That may just be because I'm used to my bike though.

A member on here has a couple of them, and he stoppies the crap out of them at every set of lights. Poor rear shock doesn't like it, but a lack of braking power doesn't appear to be a problem. IIRC I rebuilt the caliper in it and put some fresh fluid in it, and that's about it... the rest of it looks like it hasn't seen much maintenance.
