I went to school with this guys father and uncle in Kaikohe on the 1940's.
They were close friends and I spent allot of time at their home.

My first ride on a motorbike was on his grandfathers 1930's Harley Davidson
with foot clutch and hand gear change.

His great grandfather was a famous and effective politician called Hone Heke Rankin.

He is descended from Hone Hekes brother but claims to be descended from Hone Heke
who only had two children by his first wife and they both died young.

Heke considered my great great grandfather as his Pakeha and helped our family by getting
the Maoris in Kaikohe to grow wheat for our mill at Waimate North and protecting us from the
rogue Maoris during the flagpole war. I have many tales to tell about him.

Daniels father Graham was a highly respected Maori elder in Kaikohe and his Uncle Taru became a
prominent educator and teacher of teachers.

Daniel has come up with many other way out ideas which the newspapers focus on as they
stir up people and sell papers just like his present statement
    .
He may come from chiefly family but chiefs are not followed just because they have "blue blood"
they have to earn the respect of their contemporares. I don't think this chief will have many followers
among the sensible Maoris who are a large silent majority. We only hear about the bad ones
    and the cranks.

"Northland Maori are pushing for a special economic development tax, as part of their Treaty settlement."

We allready pay for this, it's call the dole.
It amazing how they cry about "spritul & cultural rights" but as soon as they get some money all is forgotten about until that lot runs out and they go on about something else, like at the moment its these heads from France.
Fuckers traded them in the first place, how spritul is that. Go on have your shit back but pay us for the beads, blankets and muskeets that you got, should come somewhere in the region of 1000 billon dollars.

They can have all of Northland back but we have to take out the roads, waterworks, sewerage and electricity first.
