lol, this thread appears rather timely, as I had planned to change the oil on my toyota corsa soon too...although I can't say I've ever pulled out the dip stick and discovered red "oil" before, just the usual mucky brown...

Snap! You have a Corsa and a 600cc Suzuki too? We are a demographic!
The 'red' oil didn't seem out of place as I was sure I'd seen a red castrol oil years ago and as the garage always put castrol in and I never saw the actual oil I just assumed....

I know someone who did (we think) about 150000km on one cambelt and one oil change. Car was a Honda City Shuttle about late 80's, bought new. when the free scheduled services stopped after a couple of years and 50000k, that was the last time it was looked at. Eventually the cambelt broke, and trashed the motor. the oil was not a pretty sight apparently. Car went like a top up till that point though.

Meh, its just a car, so long as it doesnt get fancy ideas now, and get all pouty and want MORE maintenance. Once every seven years is about right.

A mate of mine once brought a brand-new 1988 GSX-R750 and spent about a month looking for the water coolant bottle.
