    xr-rider's short pre-89 rd 2 report

first time on the 400 on the long track so had to learn how hard to push it.

    Qualifying.
went out on a drying track and felt really comfortable on the bike and the position of the bars i had set a couple of days before. i qualified 18th overall with a best lap of 2.24.521. i was fairly happy with this and felt good going into the race

    Race 1
Got an alright start and was taking it easy then going into higgins i lost the front end which caused the back to come round and it high sided me. i landed head first and rolled a few times before stopping. the crash gave me a bit of a fright as it was my first crash other than buckets.

This was my weekend over early on.

Hows the body feeling ? You looked abit shaken when you got out of the recovery ute and walked over to the Ambo, Helmet looked knackered too.

Hows the bike? Be ready for rd3?

very sore. hard to move. time for a new helmet. Being usual Shoei quality it protected me. Just a broken rearset an the choke mount on the frame. otherwise cosmetic damage. it will be ready for round 3 otherwise i will be back on the 150 for a round

Never good to hear of a crash Jeff , especially when i have an affinity with the bike lol.
Its only been down 3 times now (as far as i know) well 4 if you count being run over by a truck in Ngauranga Gorge before i got it.

You still looked a bit vague on Sunday and looking at the helmet pic i understand why. Heal well young fella and get back out there and spank a few of the competition.

Old Hondas just bounce back , riders take a little longer to get over the bounce.

Great to hear the bike will fight another day....
More importantly, great to hear your head is okay now Jeff.

See you at Round 3, and this time I will definitely watch you to see where you can make up time....
