ZXR250C Headlight is not working

Hi there,

I just wondering if you guys able to shed some lights with the problem I currently have with my bike.

I have purchased a ZXR250C but it was missing the headlight wiring so I bought second hand unit and today I plugged it in with new bulbs but it doesnt work.

I tried this with the ignition ON ( bike is not running since its at night ).

I have checked the fuses and they seem to be fine and battery also in good condition


Help me out boys !!

Headlight switch. Earth ... could be a number of things.
If you can get hold of a multimeter it may help.

Else you are stuck with taking it to a shop .. which may not suit your budget.. else if you can get over west, Frosty maybe able to help.

Buy a test lamp like this one, and start from the head lamp and trace the wiring back through the switch etc until you find the fault.

The test lamp is much simpler and quicker to use than the multimeter.

I half agree with you Steve .. to the point of the cost. A dick smith Multimeter will cost you $12.95. $28 for a test light !!!
Multimeter will be more useful in the long run once you get the hang of it all

Only just saw this whilst looking for something else!

On our 93 250C the headlights do not come on until after cranking the engine.

This is sensible as this means all battery power is available to cranking and starting.

Was just about to say this also, on my 1991 ZR250 the headlight won't come on unless the engine is going, even with the switch in the on position. Saves draining your battery I guess!
