    Police pursuit policy

See they are talking about this again in the news after the lastest chase death in chch (halswell) .
I sometimes reckon Police are getting to PC , chase the buggers. Seems to me if you know the police will abandon a chase, you would go out of your way to try to get away. Is it just as dangerous to let these morons get away and carry on driving and cause a accident else where?
Toughen up , if they crash and kill someone while under police pursuit , do them for murder.

So if the person they kill is your child, your Mother, your sibling then you are fine with this?

    Just checking.

I will clarify. I was not commenting on the police pursuit policy. The OP is obviously ok with innocent bystanders dying, just curious how far his opinion goes.

Please pass on our condolences to your family as they are sitting through a narrow minded murder trial
Your picture's in my wallet and I'm sitting on it. And if that isn't love, I don't know what is

I wouldn't be fine if 'anyone' got hurt, But would not be aiming my anger at police. Too many are running because they know the police pull out .

A poem published in The Press' family notices today described MacKay as a "man of your word" and referred to his death as "suicide by a cop chasing your car".

    The poem reads:

    "This is a tribute,
From the elite of the street,
    Some of Paparua's gangstas,
Brothers in arms in bricks and bars,
Life and death in the fast lane,
    We remember your name,
    Never narked on no one,
    True to the game.

You were a man of your word and very few are,
Suicide by cop chasing your car,
    We reminisce about a youngsta,
Who aint no longer with us,
    Dead but not gone,
Because through us he lives on,
Still smoking on, still smoking on."

Another notice said MacKay, aka "Fatboy", was "a solid and loyal friend to the end".

I think this dickhead has done society as a whole a favour.

Someone lunched themselves in Halswell yesterday? Missed that one!

The police are rightly concerned about the danger to Joe Public and his loved ones if they are chasing some plonker doing a runner (plus the officers involved in the chase are at risk the higher the chase speeds get). I believe this is the primary reason for calling off a chase.

I also feel for the police in this situation as all to often there is family and/or media outcry against the police when the offender kills him/herself or their passengers. In theory the police could (and usually do) say the chase had been called off, as indeed any chase is called off as soon as the offender runs into a lamp post.

    Side note distraction here:
I ask why is it when there is a train/car accident that the media always report it as a train hitting a car - surely it is the car hitting the train as I have yet to see a train jump a track and aim for a car.

    Jesus christ, a triple post?
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

I don't usually get this pissed off about this sort of thing but it is a fucken shame the whole lot of these mongrels weren't in the car with him, fucken waste of oxygen breathing space.

My respect and gratitude goes to the guys who's job was to pursue them, a very difficult job the consequences of which will be with them for a long time, even though you have obviously done the tax payers of NZ a favour.

Actually I've got more to say, its the bloody red wine, time to arm the police then they can just deal to these lower than life forms without the need to put tax paying real NZers at risk - there just solved the pursuit dilemma as well.
