Nice place to visit, but not sure if I'd like to live there - like's been said before, very isolated, and no major bike shops - a couple of smaller ones though.

Lovely riding roads in all three major directions.

Can get very hot in summer.

    No Ducati dealer.

There is, however, a McCafe at the McDonalds.

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

But the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want.

Which, might I add has the cheapest, and nicest Mochaccino's around. $3.65 for a large one, whereas large at Robert Harris is $5 and tastes like, well, not good.
    This is who we are

If you like big city life, Don't do it!
If you and your wife are both used to living the smaller township lifestyle and enjoy a slow paced lifestyle, then Gisborne is fabulous.
Gisborne is reknowned for its fabulous east coast beaches like Tokomaru Bay & Tologa Bay. It's kind of a surfies ideal place. The coastal areas are beautiful.
But as already mentioned, Isolated from other towns.
Personally, I'd not mind living there! The other place I'd like is Hawke's Bay.
