No, No, you don't understand: Politics is the art of decieving, and telling untruths, without actually lying.

    Examples:

"No new taxes" means "we'll now call them government levies."

"No decision about (whatever) has been made" means "Cabinet knows what has been decided, but its not yet available for public knowledge"

"I did not tell the driver to exceed the speed limit" means "I only told him by what time he had be at Christchurch airport."

" I did not use those words." means "That's what I said but my pronounciation may have been different."

    Time to ride

    *YAWN*

    *YAWN*

Is Winston at it again? Is it that time of the year for an election?

Every election, Winston brings up the same issue of immigration and Asians to stir things up and gets our bloods boiling, so that the misinformed votes for him. *BIG Yawn. NZ First has little to no policies of their own and without fail brings in the race issue with every election. Look what happened to Pauline Hanson. Back to selling Fish and Chips? Maybe Winston should open a Dairy. If Winston doesnt bring up the race issue, he would be left without a job. The sad thing is that, he himself is an minority with an identity crisis. Maybe he doesnt have mirrors in his house, or is he simply a master in "Smokes and Mirrors"?

The world has become a global arena. NZ must either move to join the rest of the world or get left behind. For those who are still living underneath a rock and do not read, NZ has for the last 4-5 years, economic growth that have far exceeded most of the OECD countries. Economic growth means jobs and extra cash in all NZer's pockets, for those who are illiterate. Yes, thats right, even Auntie Helen is doing something right and taking care of the country.

I suppose there will be the few individuals who are never satisfied and likes to winge about everything and anything. Time to think for yourself instead of following the few who uses propaganda to cloud your mind? Time for some brain power, time for a Kit Kat!

    What is a NZer?

    Peter Dunne's integrity

Right off the mark there Jim. I had to hold myself back from bad repping you for bad repping him. OK to say if you don't like him but from my discerning point of view Peter Dunne's integrity (and that of their party) is the highest of any current and newsworthy member of parliament. My vote this year will be split between support for them and for Act (on tax & bureacracy issues alone I must add). In the past I have voted for Winnie himself and only because I'm in his electorate, any representation other than by the big two has got to be more relevant than the "back pocket/back-scratching corruption that goes on in major party politics.
Reality is an illusion encouraged by consensus.

    Fair enough.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

As a relative newbie I tend to avoid discussions on NZ politics. But as an 'outsider' all I see is a rascist attempting to ride on the back of public discontent. And when this prat talks of immigrants I presume, like most people, he refers to those with dark skin. Heaven forbid he's talking about us pleasant, law abiding, white folk. Like me.

Well while we're sharing our own personal opinions (be they misguided or not)...

As so many intelligent folk have point out prior - Winnie is just trying to get re-elected. His personal beliefs are centred around re-election. Some politicians choose taxes, some choose poverty, some choose marijuana... whatever works for them. Winnie chose immigration. Whatever you think of his morals or ethics (or lack thereof) he's still managed to stay in parliament for a bloody long time without actually ever standing for anything other than himself.

Now if we want to talk racism, I hate gook drivers, hate coconuts who bash their wives, hate da bros who don't f***ing work, hate the nargy(?) taxi drivers, hate the ragheads who expect me to subsidise their political asylum, and as for those black c***s that suck up all the state housing...

Have I left any stereotypical racial slurs out? Oh yeah, those f***ing skinheads who hate everyone who isn't of anglo-saxon descent.

Bring on the red rep fellas

When Winnie was Finance Minister in Bolger's Govt, he curbed some of the worst excesses of their New Right policies. That earned some of my respect. Now he's voicing some of the public's concerns that the more PC pollies won't mention. It may be inflammatory, but the issues are still valid.
I don't recall any party asking for a mandate to change the ethnic composition of NZ, we do need immigration but a balance should be found. Not one ethnic group becoming 12% to 15% of our population over 10 years.
Nor should immigration of this level be permitted without investment in infrastructure to cope.

Bloody yummy chickens! Expensive though compared to the mainstream takeaway outlets, but then you get what you pay for.

Now back to the racial slurs... The problem I see occuring is the influx of certain ethnicities who, for whatever reason, enter NZ, live in a particular suburb/area and associate only within their own culture. I think it's pure bad manners to move to someone else's country and then don't make an effort to fit it - when in Rome, do as the Romans do??

As that culture increases in size progressively through immigration and good old fashioned shagging (yep, apparently that is one thing all cultures have in common - who woulda guessed?). Sooner or later their culture will be of a size where they can elect political candidates, which will then influence the entire make up of our society. Birth rates among Euro descent people are down, while other cultures are growing steadily (or even rapidly). Since many of these cultures will stick together, the leftovers of the underdog psychology, rather than splitting the vote like the rest of us, it will be likely that they will develop a lot of power from a small % of the population.

I agree with cultural diversity. I don't mind my daughter learning an asian language at school - it will probably help her in the increasingly global marketplace that the asian economies will soon own. I can't see how counting to ten in Maori will do bugger all, though. But then it's politically incorrect to say that - it makes me a racist.

I reckon there's about 200,000 people who could do with a one-way air ticket outta here (to where I don't care), and the 250,000 who replace them can be more carefully selected and we don't let their 2nd cousin 15th removed in just cos they're here.
