    i don't want to admit it but i am slowly becoming racist. why?
    because of bad habits and bad driving from other cultures. and they are dirty too.
    and it seems to be races more than anything that make me put them into a catergory.

    in the early 80's or pre that time it was islanders that were the problem.
    now its the asian/indian people that are causing it.
    and australians are always there.

    i just don't want to have to put up with their attitudes or rudeness.
    half the time they think they are above everyone and i'm sick of it.

    but there are some that are great. what happened to the rest?

    As an immigrant myself - all I'd like to say is that they should make it a LOT LOT LOT more stricter for people to come in.

    My parents came in years ago through the points system which they qualified under due to their work experience, skills and education.

    Now I'm not trying to be elitist. But we also have a huge group of people here with less that stellar job skills, recognition of qualifications, etc. And a lot of these poor (highly skilled in their countries) people end up stocking shelves in supermarkets, driving cabs and making burgers...... why??

    So I for one am for stricter immigration.

    Wow - a few inflammatory general statements there........

    But some truth in some of them.

    One of the problems we have here in that one guy with skills comes in.. he then becomes a citizen and sponsors a dozen relatives here with no skills...... who just sit around and build their own little suburbs until we all end up with little india and little china and little korea, etc.

    That one guy is great he works for a good company and pays good tax - but the remaining 12 people -

    .................

    I suppose I should say "thank you" instead.

    However, on the "NZ to become Asian nation" point, I beg to differ. I am not patronizing in this, but I do hate to see it to happen. Afterall, that was why I came here and not to China.

    Whoooooo there

    This thread is possibly a good example of why I can only live in NZ for small periods of time before I get itchy feet and have to get my head clear , by living in other countrys
    A cause of mis infomation ,,,is not having enough information ...or in other words not knowing HOW the other half lives ,,,,,
    I for one would like to see MORE immigrants into NZ especially from Africa , and china /asia ..

    New Zealand is a small dot in the sea that not a lot of people know about ...and the world is changing , and does things that just so happen to be different .( its not better or worse just different)

    On a lighter note have you thought how other countries view NZ ??? I know a few people who think the hygiene habits are a lot to be desired ??

    Nope ole Winne should be left to run a Fish and Chip shop with Pauline ,,,,and let us Normal folk live in piece
    and why is this topic even being discussed.... as it doesnt amount to a hill of beans WHERE you come from ...there are arseholes in every country......

    Stephen
    Who is English , with an Irish Mother who lives in NZ ,,,,and I now Live in JApan ..

    Thats not an Immigrant thats a frequent flying traveller !!!!

    In the 60's and 70's it was the "whinging Poms;
    In the 80's it was the Islanders;
    In the 90's it was the Asians;

    But Winnies out of date, its now the Arabs...

    I never used to consider myself racist, but over the past decade I have started to recognise a racist trait occuring within myself at times. However Winnie is simply over the top. I think he stirs up the racial issues every election as he knows that inside everyone there is a lack of ethnic understanding.

    He is on the right track in wanting to overhaul the immigration system and ensure that the immigrants we do do get will not cause the type of racial disharmony that we see cropping up, but his method is overkill.

    Aunty Helen, on the other hand, is going the other way and appears to encourage immigrants from anywhere, and from any background. Hence NZ gets a reputation of being a soft touch.

    Neither of these extremists will get my vote.
    Time to ride

    Oh the hilarity!

    Whatever you may think of Winnie, he is a consummate politician, and it never seems to amaze me how he pushes the 'right' buttons [no pun intended :msnwink:], at the right time, and keeps his party afloat in the house.

    I, personally, would never vote for the guy. His ideas are extremist and disturbing. The foreign menace has oft been used to justify all sorts of expediency...think back over the last 100 or so years...Russians, Germans, Japanese...immigration dawn raids...etc.

    It is sad that the race card has been, and probably always will be used with such disturbing regularity. It is always sure to stir up a hornet's nest on all sides of the political spectrum.

    I don't think Winston is as racist and ignorant as those who vote for him, he just simply knows how to ignite the small minded bigotry in people.

    Hes unethical, lacking in character and morals and its just an embarrassment to New Zealand that he has any following whatsoever. Its a shame we can't trade those who vote for him, for intelligent, productive immigrants from elsewhere.

    If you like Japan or other countries so much then why dont you stay there and stop slagging off our country.

    Your forefathers should have gone to Australia instead of here.
    On a lighter note have you thought of what some people might think of you?
    And like that an original bit of prose ....
