    Stationary vehicle infringement notice?

Just making this clear, this is for our Van but want to set this straight as it seems strange to receive an stationary vehicle infrigement notice for parking in a goods and service bay for under 20 secs, while I was getting dropped off.

This happened in Papakura: I get dropped off under 10 secs to pick up goods for the olds for a catering business and the Van was parked in a Goods and Service Bay for literally 20 secs before jetting off. I was there to pick goods up but since we were there early the Van jetted off somewhere else to find park as I wait for it to be ready, to then I carried to the new spot where the van was.

Then we get a notice in the mail requesting for us to pay $40.00 for being in a loading zone that's for good service vehicles only.

I mean, bad luck that there was a parking officer right there but being there for 20 secs suffice for a $40.00 ticket?

Btw, what constitutes a 'goods and service vehicle' ? because the olds have do this pick up everyday during the school term for a catering business. And we're just doing our job man, picking stuff up like they do everyday.

Do I have a defence to right to them or do I have to cough up the cash?

    Chur.

    goods service vehicle—
    (a) means a motor vehicle used or capable of being used in a goods service for the carriage of goods; but
    (b) does not include a vehicle specified as an exempt goods service vehicle in the regulations or the rules

    Defend it.

Tell them to pee off - you were in a van unloading goods. For all that warden knows you had a package in your pocket (so to speak) and were actually delivering it and being collected by the van later at a prearranged spot.

Fight it, attempt at quota fail will be your defense. Or you could use one of the more sensible ones that will be given.

I know in Wellington to use those parks you need to be a registered goods vehicle or something...

We weren't actually unloading, but picking stuff up so I got dropped off. Since we were earlier I get off the Van jetted off under 20 secs to find a suitable parking around the corner.

it's weird how the wardens don't even think before they issue a ticket. It's really annoying, because now I have to write a letter and all that crap.

    btw this is Papakura

We just want the papakura council to be reasonable, as were doing our job pick goods up.

Do we have a suitable defence rather then giving them our situation? Surely there has to be threshold for them to issue out a ticket, parking there for 10 secs surely doesn't suffice $40 bucks.

I wouldn't write a letter of explanation to the council.

I'd just write to say you intend to plead not guilty and see them in court.

They then don't know how you intend to dispute the ticket. No need to tip them off.

How's that gonna work? Wouldn't I incur more costs, etc...

Never disputed a ticket in court before, so would it would be good to know how to argue my case for a $40 ticket...

I will write a letter first and see if they can write the notice off.

Good luck there. A workmate was issued a ticket for parking in Papakura on a day when he had his car well across the other side of town!
Seems like the parking-monkeys find it easier to sit at their desk to write tickets and other Mills and Boon fiction.

    Fight it.

there is no time period, afaik. This includes mothers dropping kids off at school, no stopping etc and what defines stopping. I think to be a goods vehicle you need the status, ie, not just any vehicle?
