Auckland: Southern Motorway New Market Viaduct being closed for 36 hours

I heard on the radio they are plannng on closing the southern motorway at the New Market viaduct so they can move the blue 800 tonne crane being used to build the new bridge.

They are planning on doing it in September, and they reckon it way take 36 hours. It will be done over a weekend, but the entire southern motorway will be closed for part of Monday morning, and they are saying motorists will have to plan an alternate route.


Might be a good day for everyone that uses the stretch of motorway to take half a day off I think. It will be chaos.
