    Where should speed cameras sit?

I'm sure I got stung on tuesday heading south on State 27 between the Coro turnoff and the Matamata straights. Usually I set the cruz at 105-110 but I was about 250 or so meters and closing on a caravan which was behind a truck and saw one of those 400 meters to a passing lane signs... So I put the foot down and as I went past the truck I saw a speed camera van on the side of the road... looked at the speedo as I hit the picks... 130 something... bugger! Ok I did it, I'll take it on the chin but what a wanky place for a speed camera, beside a passing lane, that's not about safety at all! Just waiting for the invoice now.

You best hope that the truck was in the pic too, then you will be sweet. I have had a few speed cameras snap at me on passing lanes/motorway, and not received a "dear defendant" letter yet, as there has been a vehicle there with me. *touches wood*

He he in Christchurch they hide in crappy looking old vans with tinted windows parked on the side of the road, often around a bend!

We are lucky in Auckland, we have new crappy vans. They are known to hide behind bushes at night, on a unlit part of SH1.

Her majesty's invoice showed up today... 112 Kph, $80. Coulda been worse, quite lucky really.
My 4rd speeding ticket (since 1981). I'm a serial speeder and now I have to go and sit on the naughty step.
