    Media Responsibility - now there's a thought

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Started off ok but then the rest was too much 'American Bible Belt' rhetoric. I admit I only did a quick scan tho.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

Not bible belt, but Mormon Belt.

Not supporting all the argument, but there is definitely the filter of a persecuted minority and a Republican voter.

Americans. They don't always get the difference between "freedom" and "balanced" when it comes to reportage. Or irony...

Media Responsibility is an oxymoron isn't it?

That was an interesting essay - not at all biased, not at all.

I thought it was an interesting blend of common sense and out and out jingoism.

    Quite odd.

I also found out more about Orson Scott Card than I'd known before, and now I know why some of his books make me go, 'What the?"

In fact a lot of his stuff I've MADE myself read because Sci-Fi geek friends tell me it's good. I personally think at least some of my Sci-Fi geek friends don't really like me.

    well that was fun.

I know that crowd. I've heard them jeer at all the values that most Americans still care about, laughing at religious people, at the middle class, at suburbanites, at the poor ignorant saps who don't think correct thoughts all the time. You know -- the citizens of Heartland. Those poor sentimental fools who stood in line to see The Passion and who like Adam Sandler movies and who get tears in their eyes when they see the American flag and whose hearts break a little when it burns.
    lol!!! Jesus wept...

probably posted here before, but here goes: http://www.mnftiu.cc/mnftiu.cc/war.html

    You're on to it

Innit funny how the western world seems to be aghast at terrorism, yet they haven't clicked yet that terrorism can't work without publicity - which the news media are only too happy to provide, and the people are only too happy to pay for????

An interesting article. (Not religious retoric)
Mr Card has taken the example of flushing the Koran down the toilet to highlight the media's love of inflaming people/groups to make a story. (Probably could have worded that better).
As soon as I saw that story I knew it would cause an outcry. It's like they want to 'needle' the enemy. Osama and his lot will now have another excuse for committing some henious act. Sometimes things are better left unsaid.
For some time now, I have held the belief that the press far too often want to make the news instead of just reporting it.
