    Turbo charger on a CBR250 MC19.

    Hey all,
    Ill be honest when it comes to motorcycles I dont know all that much, though I would save y I haa fair idea when it comes to motors, what I am curious about it how much hassle do you think would be involved with installing a turbocharger on my bike, that and would it be worth the effort, Im not looking for a "yah that sounds awesome" or a "your a F**cking idiot" reply, just an honest opinion, wont be taken personaly so dont fret about how its worded haha, I dont mind getting a quoat or anything like that for installation ect ect. But if I can do it myself it would make the large crater in my somewhat shrinking wallet, a fraction smaller, I have accsess to all the tools and equipment that I would need and materials are easy enough to come by...

    (So somehow i went from asking if anybody had any idea how much of a hassle it would be to install one or if it would be worth the effort in trying, to giving you a life story, sorry )

    lot of hassle, lot of effort, wait until you get your full license, then you'll see why its pointless.

    I'm pretty sure a guy on the CBR250 forums in Oz has already done this, try googling it. Whether you should or shouldn't do it, entirely up to you man. But if you've got the means and ability, then go for it. That way in 20yrs time you won't be asking yourself 'hmmmm wonder what that would've gone like' rather than laughing at the memories of it all.

    Issues ;

    Your main ride will be off the road for nearly a year while you complete it.

    Finding a small enough turbo (size of a coffee cup for a 250cc.)

    If you burn that engine (and you will) it won't be worth repairing.

    The engine is too old and fragile to do that to it.

    The project will be a money pit.


    See what I'm getting at? If you really want to do a turbo project you need a complete engine on the workshop bench to work with and get the unit complete before going anywhere near a bike with it, and THEN get a rebuilt engine and bolt your conversion onto it.

    Lots of people turbocharge bikes (google it) and if you really want to do it then you should, but maybe not yet with your learner bike.
