What fuel should I put in my 1989 Honda CBR 250r(k)?

    the title says it all.

What fuel should i put in my 1989 Honda CBR 250r(k)?

Im currently using unleaded 91 and i was wondering if 95 would give me better performance or be better for the engine?

    Thanks in advance

Hey that's weird, two other members with the same name have asked the same question! Must be a KB record......

91 will be fine, unless you hear any pinking.

Still got a owners handbook? It will give a minimum octane rating.

You can always phone your local Honda dealer.

Sometime you actually get better MPG on 95, I've had a couple of small engined cars like that.

diesel is cheaper. I use it. Gives higher compression too.

Based on the age of the bike and the small engine size I would stick with 91.

One of these? min 91 RON.

Octane rating is how resistant the fuel is to igniting due to compression. It just so happens most high compression engines (that need higher octane fuel) produce more power, or something like that.... or you could just put some 95 in your tank and see if you go faster or further for less $ but it's unlikely.

Ill ring up Honda and see what they say.
If they say its not really going to make a difference ill run 95 or 98 for a tank and see how she runs. im interested to see if there is any performance increase

thanks again for the contribution and i loved that link! very very helpful

Sorry if you have already sorted this one out, But in the original workbook manual for this bike it recomends 91 as a min. But i run mine on 98 or 95 which ever is BP's Light blue handle, and I find it has more power and I get about 300-350 Km's every 13L of fuel, a 15L tank with a 2L reserve so i tend to top it up before it hits that last 2L, I dont know if you will get the same milage, my bike only has 4,700km's on the clock so its probly got alot more life in it than yours, hope this helps you out man

I was told 91 for my hornet which uses pretty much the same engine, because you don't want all the crap they add to 95/98 or something like that. Very thin fuel lines or something. Yes very helpful.
