Only ever had one and that was for 80kmh in a 50kmh zone cost me a whole $50 so how long ago do you think that was?

Don't tell Lee Rusty about this post - as these stats ALSO add to the ACC premium - apparently labelled 'pending accidents'

Well, i this is the worst i have had. It better be the worst i will has aswell.

A few months ago i did a runner. I just thought it would be "fun". The consequences never crossed my mind. I ended up canning off goin round a corner (no, i didnt go to hospital or doctor to use the much debated ACC levy, still havent had a bike related claim ). Looking back at it i am kind of glad i fell off when i did. I only ended up getting charged with failing to stop, but it could have easily been alot worse. I could have easily ended up in prison or even worse. Now i dont even go more than 10kph over the speed limit.

Outcome was only a $450 fine, $80 court costs and 35 demerits.

So come on, ive told my story, i take the dumbass of the year award for this year, how about other peoples "incidents" like this!!! There must be someone else remotely as dumb as me Or maybe no

In my case I think it led to ''continuous registration'' - stopping guys like me evading registration fees by using one plate on many different bikes...hell,cars too....if I had too many boats I'm sure I woulda figured something out.

Okay I did get 3500 us dollars worth of speeding tickets in 2 days but I dont think that was a biggie as I was never even slightly likely to pay them, hence an arrest warrant now out for me in certain places there.

I got pulled up on my 750 a while back, no license, no rego, false plate, no wof. Luckily I have so many classes on my license and look the part no cops ever notice that 12345 doesnt include a bike class.
Didnt get a ticket at all from it.
6 months later I was going to a friends place. Got off the bike and relised it wasnt parked right so moved it around. Took my helmet off, and jacket and was just about to walk away when a copcar came to a screaming halt beside me. Took me a while for it to register "Oh crap, he was chasing me"
I knew I had been doing some speed but had no idea due to a dead speedo. He asked me how fast I was going, I honestly told him I didnt know. When I saw what he had hawked me doing I almost laughed, only 14km over the limit!
Of course I was once again not reg'd, wof'd and had a funny plate on but he didnt want the paperwork. I got off with an 80 dollar fine.

I learned alot, I am in the process of getting my full license. As for registering my bike, im still thinking about it. Seriously. Really officer.

not a real ticket but nearly prison :-))

    By car in Austria:
I only got two normal tickets with my car (153kph on a 130kph highway)...

    By motorcycle in South Africa:
Two cameras caught me speeding (80 in a 60 zone) but speed cameras in South Africa take pictures from the front and
there's no number plate (In Austria they take the picture from behind )

    By car in South Africa:
On a 4 week tour with a hired car the following thing happened:
    INTRODUCTION:
The total tour was 15 to 16000km.
On the border from South Africa to Swaziland the border post noticed that our licence disk did not correspond with our number plate and neither with the vehicle number. The found out that we were driving with three different cars at the same time. We told them that we hired the car from a private person and the police tried to phone the owner. After one hour they said that we can drive on but should inform the owner that he has to fix the inconsistence. None of the three cars was stolen and we were tourists, I think that was the motive why they allowed us to carry on.
We lost our exhaust for several times and after the 4th time we decided to drive without the exhaust from Lesotho to Cape Town (2000km).
We carried the exhaust with us in the car.
One week after the thing at the border post we were in South Africa again (Wild Coast).
It was Saturday and I had to be back at the Stellenbosch University on Monday.

Our car was extremely loud (no exhaust) and there were many police controls next to the road. -- Do I have to say that each police control pulled us over? Every time the same story:
    OFFICER: Hallo
    I: Hallo
OFFICER: There's something wrong with your car
I: Yes, we know (friend and I) ---- we lost our exhaust ---- just now at the Wild Coast
OFFICER: And where do you want to go?
I: Unfortunately, I have to be back at the Stellenbosch University on Monday, AND THAN WE CAN GIVE THE CAR BACK TO THE OWNER SO THAT HE CAN FIX THE PROBLEM.
    (Still 1300km to Cape Town)
OFFICER: You want to go to Cape Town like that?
I: I've to be back on Monday -- yes.
    OFFICER: Drive safely.
    I: Thanks.

But the last officer noticed again, that the licence disk did not correspond with the number plate. So he showed me the inconsistence and I said - oh really?
The officer also told me that I've to follow him to the police station and - because it's Saturday I've to stay there till Monday (court is closed over the weekend)
But I can contact my lawyer so that he can arrange a payment so that I can stay outside of the prison AAAHHHHH - I thought.
I've no lawyer - never had one either.
I started laughing and said that's not what I've expected from a South Africa holiday trip.
I think we should call the owner of the car - I said.
He accepted and then we phoned with the owner....
In the meantime while the owner phoned his lawyer (we were still next to the road) he was interested in my work at the University and I was interested in the fine catalogue. No fine if licence disk does not correspond with the licence disk - only if there is no number plate on the car.
So I asked if it is not possible to take the number plate off and than he can give me a fine -- not possible he said.
Than the lawyer phoned back and after another 20 minutes phone call we could carry on again.....

I think one night in a prison in South Africa is not very recommendable. High HIV rate in South Africa....

    cu, Marcus
